I thought I'd gone off hopscotch and custard. I thought I hated them now. Do you have any idea how much hopscotch I have! I've got about 90 mls with another 120 on the way, along with 60 of custard. I was distraught.

My problem? I left the sanctuary of the FSUSA sub forum. A while ago I was looking into the care and feed of atties for the ego. I tended to blow them out regularly, and every few days soak them in boiling water. Read posts about how stupid that was, from people who said you should leave them alone. They were all "washings the quickest way to kill them, just leave them be, I never rinse mine and I've had the same one since 1965" (ok, so I'm paraphrasing). But I'm new. I thought I was doing the wrong thing and they knew more.

Well I didn't do anything with mine. And by today it was so gunked up, and I didn't realise! When I finally gave up and boiled it tonight I was horrified by the stuff that came off it.

I am now sitting on the couch with a fresh (from being boiled and put away a few weeks back) atty, and the sweetest, loveliest, most fantasmagorical custard I've ever vaped.

I will never leave here again. Ever.

I've always cleaned my atties (510 style) with vodka, then blew them out using one of those blue ear bulb things. It worked fine for awhile, but they still all taste burnt to me now. I finally switched to a 306 atty per vaporgal's suggestion, and it's been much better.
I don't know how long atties are supposed to last, but most of my 510s are 5-6 months old, and they still work. They just taste unbearable!

So what is this 306 atty and where can I find some? I didn't see them on the FSUSA site. What makes them better than the 510? I guess an adapter is needed too? what about a drip tip? will my 510 drip tip work?

I am using an eGo with standard 510 atty.

you can also type '306' in the quick search in the bottom left of the page and it will show the drip tip and accessories that work with it aswell :)

You don't need an adapter but you need a 306 drip tip. They are specifically designed for the 306 as they don't have a steel tube around them.

I have always cleaned my atomizers. I have some that are now 6 months old. I use an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner. You should see all the gunk that comes out....little black charred pieces...ewwwww. I also use it on cartomizers. Works wonders to bring back "thought to be dead" atomizers/cartomizers.

I know the ECF boards are littered with atomizer-cleaning discussions, but I thought I'd throw my $0.02 on the subject into this thread right here. :)

New atomizers:
1. Blow out the primer, if there is any.
2. Check for DOA's and/or mis-markings with a multimeter.
3. Alcohol soak-n-swish in 90% isopropyl for ½ hour or so.
4. Remove them from the alcohol bath, and blow `em out.
5. Leave attys to dry for about a week.
6. Re-test with multimeter, and put them away.

Atomizers that are in-use get the same treatment about every 2 weeks until they're dead.

I use pretty much the same method, except I add a hot water rinse after the alcohol bath..then dry them.. and almost all have lasted 6 months or so... I have lately been trying some different cartos...and don't really have a good system for those yet, so I use them for a couple of weeks and toss. Some say you can clean them as well, but they are meant to be disposable, so I dunno. :)

I forgot to talk about what I do with my atomizers. I use one until the liquid is starting to taste off (usually about two weeks), then I put it on a paper towel in the kitchen. Then I use a new one and do the same thing, etc., etc., etc., until I'm running low on new atomizers. Then I blow out the atomizers, soak in alcohol for 10 minutes or so, and then blow them out again. They're usually good for one more time after that, then I trash it.

I use cartos too, but never wash, boil them, etc. When it's done, I just trash it and grab a new one.

Thanks Kristen, I am going to have to try some. I use the 650 size batts, will these work with that size? I usually get a whole day out of the battery, will the LR shorten my day?

I have 5 attys I use in rotation. I typically take the ones I've used for the week and just give them a good rinsing in hot water from the tap. I let them dry out overnight and then put them back in rotation. I haven't had one die on me yet (4 weeks vapeing and smoke free this Saturday).

I also have 2 boge cartos I have only cleaned out once in the 2 weeks I've had them. I typically only use those for my "every day" vapes on the go, so I don't really need to wash them out due to the same flavors being dumped in them.

I am slightly OCD though. Something in my head keeps telling me to "clean them" even though I know they don't really need to be. :)

Yes you can use the 306 attys on any of the eGo batteries, and with it being an LR, it will shorten the battery life by roughly 25%.

Thanks guys! So with these 306: Can I just screw them onto my eGo? And use the same cartriges? (I'm an old fashioned girl, I use atties and carts).

Oh yeah ... I remember seeing some atties and carts in the FSUSA Museum. Real interesting thingies. Can you actually vape with them?
