When I started vaping in December 2013 it was just to quit smoking. Could not have cared less about advanced equipment, coil building or Diy juices....no interest whatsoever, just hand me a basic clearo and an ego and I am off cigarettes for good.

So I joined ECF and started reading. And I posted now and again. And I read some more. Before you know it I am off smokes for 6 months and armed with the knowledge fellow members provided I rewarded myself with a Provari (Dragon ed, very spiffy) and a Nautilus topper. Nice...but it's still just a simple, easy to use tank on a stick and I still dont care about diy and coils etc.

Then one fine evening my wife asks (in that tone that only wives can manage).."Just what are you planning on doing with these empty e-juice bottles that I see you washing out and squirelling away????" "Oh....well....I was just gonna....."

I guess my subconscious always knew.

Ok so I placed my orders for all my diy supplies and coil building materials AND a Kayfun to ease my shinyitis.

Made a small batch of juices. Sampled it. Meh, not bad for a first try. Made a bigger batch.
Made a coil. Tested it. Nice glow, bright and even, inside to out.

Kayfun blowing quality vapor and nice flavor.
Diy juices steeping away while I "burn" off the last of my store bought juice.

Now what??? I need something to occupy my time and curiosity but I seem to have crossed everything off a list I didnt even know I had.

Wait.....let me see that. A "Reo" you say? Hmmmm, that would use up another of those pesky empty bottles and......Uh oh.

We all know how you feel. When I joined ECF I had an eGo style battery and was literally in love with evods. Then I started rewicking my kanger coils, then I got a mod, and another, and another, and another, etc. Now I'm waiting for my REO to come in the mail this weekend and have an order planned out for some DIY stuff and yada yada yada.

The hobbyist aspect of vaping astonishes me. I would have never thought just the concept could be so addicting...but it is!

Haha- I can so sympathize with you! I ended up going Reo early on after getting very frustrated with DIY (turns out I just needed to explore a wider variety of flavor manufacturers, they each have strengths and weaknesses - getting the strengths from each different manufacturer makes mixing almost to easy now!)

So now I just need more Reos I guess

Warning - Once you have Provari, Reo and DIY down its hard to fulfill the shiny-itis in any way other than acquiring more Reos - it really is a sickness!

Maybe I need one Reo per fave DIY mix? Yeah! Thats it......amiright

Yup. That story sounds similar to mine... But I knew I would rebuild at some point as I enjoy DIY in most things I get into. It took me 3 months to finally justify the purchase of an APV and all that goes with it. Now I've got 3 APVs 3 drippers that I switch between (bought more, but weeded out the ones I don't like because of build deck, airflow, etc), a kayfun, and I just bought a mech and a CLT on the way.

I haven't gotten into juice DIY, but I'm sure that's next. I think the rios mods are nice, and I'll probably get one eventually.

I'd defiantly say this is a niche - the hobbiest side of things, but it's defiantly growing.
Many people are good with their egos. I've got a brother in law who has been vaping egos with pro tank minis for the last year and a half or so, and he's just now talking about stepping it up. I think it's a bit of mod envy, as he's sees my gear and the stuff the guys at the vape shop have that he frequents. My other brother inlaw has been vaping for about 6 months and he's always like "what new stuff do you have this week?" And "I just want to get a mod that will last me a long time so I don't have to upgrade every few months". He recently stepped up from ego to mvp2 with a kayfun... Didn't talk to me first.. lol I have done most of his builds, trying to take care and show him how it's done... He rewicks and has wrapped a few coils, but still seems to prefer me to do it...
he's always wanting to trade juice and such, but that doesn't really work to well because he vapes 12mg and I'm at 3-6mg...

Alright, I'll quit rambling now... But those are my thoughts... Lol
