Okay guys, newb talk. I'm learning more and more about the beautiful world of vaping every day. I'm a little confused here tho. I have the eleaf iStick 20watt and nautilus mini running at 12 watts. The nautilus mini has 1.8 ohm coils but are reading at 2.1. Does this mean the coil is actually 2.1 ohms? I know that every coil is different and will read differently. Or is my eleaf just reading it as 2.1? The reason I ask is I am unsure as to whether I should run at higher watts since my coil could handle it, or if I should lower. At 12 watts, the vapor is cool and tastes amazing, but I don't want to risk burning my coils faster. Thanks for your response in advance!

I have a vey similar problem with my istick 30 watt and generally I have to keep the wattage a little lower when the ohms read higher. Sometimes if I unscrew tank and put it back on and it will read better. I'm using .5 coils, they tend to read as .6 and thats not bad... if my kanger sub reads as .7 I will quickly get burnt hits even at lower than normal wattage. This happens to me with brand new coils or broken in coils, some have suggested cleaning all contacts with alcohol. That did not help me. I have noticed that if the mod and tank are cold from my air conditioner they are more likely to read correctly.

All the above, and...

NONE of the meters in our mods are calibrated. While the electronic circuits are generally pretty close, small variations in the reading of a given coil from one mod to another is normal. Hard to say which is "right" without calibrating them, or reading the same topper on a calibrated meter.

But the bottom line - as long as your coil isn't shorted! - is the vape, and how it tastes / feels for you. The setting isn't really important other than as a starting point for your convenience and enjoyment.

If you want to vape at higher power, just step it up a half watt at a time until the taste starts to go "off", then back down a step or two.

People have noticed that the iStick ohm reader is slightly off (it usually reads higher than the coils actually are, usually moreso the higher ohm the coil is). As other members stated, you should just adjust according to your taste, and not really look at the actual number.

Add to that, most pre-made coils have some slight variance in them (usually +/- .2 ohms), so the combination of that and your iStick reading ~.1 ohm higher, AND the fact that it rounds up if the coil is something like 1.85..

Totally normal! Nothing to worry about. :)

Readings can be off by any reader. the coil can be .5 ohms, but there may be some resistance from the chip, through the wire and solder, to the 510, through the atty before it gets to the coil... It may add an additional .1 ohm. Which is why I like my regulated devices. In a mechanical mod, you have to get a new mod to compensate, and even then there is some voltage drop. In a regulated device.. just add a few more watts. :)

So if my coil is actually 1.8 ohms but my iStick is reading it as 2.2, does that mean I'm actually running higher wattage than what's on the screen? I don't know much about the electrical stuff, but I know that the resistance of the current is not actually 2.1 ohms which means only a certain amount of charge can run through it no matter what my iStick reads it as. So if its reading 2.2 (which it is today) 11 watts shows 4.9 volts. So basically what I'm asking is which one of these 3 numbers is actually accurate? Obviously not the ohms, but what about the voltage and wattage? 4.9 volts is getting near the limit of the nautilus mini coil.
