Alright so I'm running a dual coil build that the guy at the vape shop made for my first rda and I decided to check the ohms on my ohm reader and it read as 0.54 and I was wondering if this is sub ohm territory and if I needed to make new coils since I kind of want to stay away from sub ohms since I'm new to the rba world (got my first yesterday)

The battery is 2100mAh and as for the brand I don't know what it is (yea sounds weird) but I bought them from a reputable vape shop here but if it helps the casing around it is green
From your description it sounds like it's a Sony VTC4 -- a 30A battery. Your build is safe.

Did your vape shop instruct you on battery safety, ohms law, amp limitations, etc? All of these are important when you are operating a mechanical mod and are getting into rebuildables. You are the first and only line of defense regarding safety.

Susan~S beat me to it - my Sony VTC4s are green.

Ohm's Law and batteries - you need to know how many amps your build is drawing from your battery to determine if your battery can handle it. Amps = voltage/resistance. So, if you have a fresh battery, fully charged at 4.2volts and your coil of .54 = 7.78 Amps, safe on a 30Amp battery. You do have to mind how much your battery is draining over time when in use, too low is not a good thing. I try to err on the side of caution and change them out before I need to, but it beats the alternatives.

No they didn't instruct me on that, I probably should have asked. But when I build, I just did a 2 coil and before I checked the ohms of one coil and it was 1.4 ohms I think and I put a second coil in and now it's 0.64 ohms, how can I get a dual could build to 1.0 ohms and up? And should the tiny bits of kanthal that's left be touching the posts or left alone?

Not trying to sound like a jerk but that vape shop (or at least the person who helped you) is not a quality place. I understand selling mechs with out a lecture , its a business after all. BUT if you needed their help to build coils that clearly says you are learning. I'm not dissing you by any means but giving a rda built in the sub to someone who is not familiar with battery safety is irresponsible. Had you not come to this forum you could have easily tossed in a battery not designed to handle that build. Moral of my story? That shop is more interested in making a sell then teaching.

I recommend that if you like the vape at .54 leave it. It's pretty conservative with your batteries and you may find higher resistances aren't what you want on a mech. My 1.4 ohm kayfun is anemic on a mech. However I will suggest that you simply shelf the rda for a couple days, read up a lot, thoroughly understand things like ohms law including amp draw, get a voltage meter or something to be able to check how much juice your batteries have, and just generally be safe. Come back to this thread with any questions you may have. There's no need to be afraid of a .5 build if you simply educate yourself.

Thank you so much for your help everyone! I'm reading up on ohms law and all that and I just bought a multimeter to check the volts on my batteries. And judging by the battery chart it seems like with my battery a 0.64 build would be alright but I'm gonna try and build new coils at a bit higher resistance just to be a bit safe. And I was also looking at the cartel mech mod that the guy sold me and I was trying to find some kind of ventilation for the battery but I couldn't find any, does this mod have any kind of ventilation? I feel like one of the posters on this thread was right and they were just looking for a sale as it seems like they gave me a ....ty charger (trustfire) and I really need to get a safe charger that won't overcharge and stuff

Yea it was my first coil build and it wasn't identical I guess. I wanted to try it out but I wanted to make sure that anything wasn't crossing or something and I don't want anything to short or whatever
Duals need to be indetical to perform correctly, other wise one coil will ramp up faster than the other. You should probably take pictures of your battery and post them here so we can see them and verify they are indeed sonys.
