Ohm resistance on coil package vs. what the tank says a new coil is

Why would a tank say that a new coil’s resistance is .X and the coil packaging says something different? What’s the most common cause of this?
..I have to also mention that this has not always been the case with this tank/mod combination with the same prebuilt coils. The first time that I changed the coil, the tank listed the coil’s resistance as the same as the coil’s manufacturer says that it has, but since that first coil change subsequent coils have been rated by the tank on ‘watt’ mode as several tenths resistance higher than what the coils are preported to have. I do not know how to remedy the situation or what exactly could be causing the difference.
Does anyone have a tip or two?
Thanks,
S. Casey

Yes, even premade coils have slight resistance differences. Different mods may read things differently as well, my Steampunk Nano Tesla 120 consistently reads coils about .1 or .2 high. Since it's consistent, I don't worry about it, I just adjust my wattage accordingly. With that said, you will also find varying resistance between coils sometimes but it is nothing to worry about unless you are finding something like a .7 variance, which might be more concerning.

I've never purchased coils that accidentally put in a 1.6 coil with a bunch of 1.8 coils for example, though.... I think it's just likely normal coil variance.

There is variance in manufacturing as well as variance in the device's measurement accuracy. A few tenths used to not be much to worry about, but with stock coils available now with as low as 0.15 Ohms, a few tenths can matter.

I buy Kanger xOCC heads that are rated by the manufacturer at 0.50 Ohms. But these coils consistently measure at anywhere from 0.55 to 0.68. This is not a problem for me because they're intended for regulated (as opposed to mechanical) devices, so all I have to do is bump the wattage up a tad to get the same vapor.

So maybe I'm vaping at 37.5 Watts instead of 35. As long as it tastes right, I'm Ok.
