Hi all - I'm waiting for my order of new coils - thought 2.2 ohm was the std but I see what online what comes with the EVOD starter kit is 2.5...hoping I wont notice reduction in vape as I bought 2.20

So I do clean and dry burn my coils, have also purchased new wicking as find nothing to get those wicks clean and clear - question is :
what does the OHM difference mean to vaping? Do I need higher ohm for better vape?
btw - watched that you tube on cleaning, rebuilding coils - I actually like doing that - but wont' re-wire a coil just yet - don't wanna create a vapey-bomb.

traditionally - Ohm/resistance used to be important to power your device properly,
with VW - it is like less need to check it and just to be sure that you are not lower and/or higher a border values,
otherwise your VW might not fire, will do just nothing...

however, if you DONT like regular 1.8-2.4 Ohms - you can build own coils, like below 1 Ohm, called sub-ohm, etc
where it is more considered to be advanced type of the vaping and in case you dont like regular one,
do you?

:)

Did you seriously just say you can build subohm coils for an Evod?

I would love to see you do it.

Well, I don't know about the Evod - but I've built sub-ohm coils for the Kanger AeroTank. Using cotton wicking and a mechanical mod, this thing is like a fog machine!

But yeah, lower ohm resistance coils means more heat/vapor production...generally. If you're interested in building your own coils, you should give it a try! It's actually quite easy. Though I do caution you: Look through ALL of the safety information here on ECF about building your own coils first! Nobody wants you to get hurt. Things you should know are:

  • Testing atomizer ohm resistance
  • Battery Safety
  • OHM's Law

Also, you should give the "Steam Engine" a try. It's a fantastic tool that will tell you exactly how many wraps of which wire you will need to create the coil you want. It basically takes all of the guess work out!
