Hubby has one of those ohm meters. Could someone please explain a bit how I would test my 510 atty with it? Thanks in advance

Set your meter to OHMS ( the little horseshoe symbol)
Make sure the your probes are plugged in. Some meters have a hole with the horseshoe symbol on it for one probe to be plugged into.
Take your red probe and place it on the little center post of your atty and place the black probe on the threads of the atty making sure the 2 probes dont touch together should give you a reading of resistance.
