Not sure if this is where this belongs so please move if it is not.......That being said I am not an elcetrician nor an elcetrical engeineer. I am moving into vv just cause it sounds fun. I just want to know if you go up on voltage do you need to go down on ohms? and how does that work with darker liquids. I have this rocky road one that i like on my Evod but i am getting a new vv this weekend and wanted to know if i should go get a lower ohm coil for it now? All the coils i have are 2.2 and I ordered some that are 2.5 (cause that is all they had) I think my new vv goes to 4.2 should i get a coil that is 1.8 to use on darker liquids or would the 2.5's i ordered be ok? I know it is all about what I like, but at this point I dont know what that is yet. Please keep your answer simple, cause I am by no means a mathmaticin nor the brightest crayon in the box. Thanks for any help you are able to provider I appreciate it.

Trying to keep this as simple as possible. The key here is the heat generated by the coil. As the resistance for the coil is lower, you will need lower voltage to achieve the proper heat. If your coil has a higher resistance you will need more voltage to achieve the same result. If you want to learn more about how this works, or if you want to explore VW (Variable Wattage) mods in the future, I recommend reading up on Ohm's Law, or google, and play with an Ohm's Law calculator. You will see how adjusting the voltage while the resistance is left the same will affect the current (amps) and Wattage (Power).

I know this can be very confusing, so I hope this helps.

Ok so the lower the voltage the lower the ohms? Would that be right? Seems all the other stuff I read if the ohms is lower then the battery dies sooner. Thus a ton of my confusion. Lol

Exactly!! The power used by a low ohm coil may drain the battery a bit faster, so it lasts only 3hr 55 min instead of 4 hrs, you won't notice a difference. Battery life can be affected if you strain the battery, pulling lots of power (amps) from a battery not designed for it. That's more a concern for modders, coil builders, cloud chasers, pushing the envelope,

The beauty of VV is that you don't really have to worry about the resistance of the carto/atty, as you can adjust to taste. The 2.5 ohm coils will work just fine, and should not be that much different than the 2.2 ohm coils. No need to get 1.8 ohm coils at all. Just adjust the voltage up or down, depending on your personal preference. If you feel you want a little more oomph from the vape, turn it up. If it tastes burnt, turn it down.

No need to worry about power drain, either. As long as you have a charged backup battery ready to go, vape to your heart's delight.

That chart is very understandable. Thanks for the posting of it, I too am having trouble trying to find my sweet spot with flavor and resistance..I have an Innokin SVD on order hoping it will be an upgrade for finding that sweet spot. I am currently using an eGo-C upgrade with evods and mini pros

I've been trying to wrap my head around this as well. While I get that lower ohms on an unregulated mod would use a higher voltage to achieve a desired output, and run the battery out faster, wouldn't lower ohms on a vv/vw mod use a lower voltage to achieve the same output and make the battery last longer? The trick with the vv/vw mods is not to go to too low of a voltage, because they can't regulate as well that low.

Youre going to love the SVD. It beats the EGO-C to death with a rusty crowbar

I just got the email that it shipped! Can't wait! It's coming with two iClear30's and I ordered a protank2 as well. Which tank do you think will be superior?

Congrats! I haven't tried the iclear 30s yet but i love my protank2. Best clearo tank ive tried. I have 2 of them and rebuild them with cotton. muy bueno

Do you use cotton as the coil wick or flavor or both? And what gauge wire ?

I use organic cotton balls i got from walgreens for both wicks and 32gauge kanthal a1. $4 for 100 feet of kanthal from TEMCO and $4 for a big bag of cotton balls and i can rebuild the heads for months if not a year. Very cost effective. One thing i will warn you about the protank2 is when you take it apart, make sure the glass goes in the correct way. On mine, the glass is a little longer on one side and i put it on the wrong way, tightened together too tight, and split the bottom ring. It still works fine but i have to fiddle with it often and it looks ugly.
