I have started making my own coils and today I built for the first time on my drop with dual coils and a single battery mod using a Sony VTC6. After sorting the hot spots and making sure the coils glowed evenly the ohms were reading .17! If I have it right that is perfectly ok but just wanted to check ;), the mod is a Uwell Nunchaku.

The mod is rated down to 0.1 ohms, so that's OK. Just be aware that you'll likely be running that at higher power so you might want to keep an extra battery with you if you're out and about with it for a long period of time. That will also depend on the build as high mass coils will need more power than simple round wire. Of course the extra battery should be kept in either a silicone sleeve or plastic box for safety.

Just wanted to make sure because most dual .17Ω coils are vaped at higher than 50W. Of course there's builds that low that can be vaped with lower power (I know because I do ;))

I might consider that too, although it might be helpful if you posted what material you are using, what gauge and also, how many wraps and diameter of coils.

I am assuming you calculated it out in steam-engine.org, etc.? If you didn't you might fool around with the app, it may give you a sense of what you need if you'd really like to run duals and etc.

Hope any of the above is useful. Blindly shooting at a target sometimes works, aiming can work better, and also if you DID use steam engine to do it, it might be helpful to know that too, in case something in the calculations went wrong and etc.

For a Regulated Mod, the Ohms of your build Doesn't effect the Amp Draw on you Battery.

It's the Watts, the Lowest Voltage the Battery will still fire at (the Mods Cut-Off Voltage), and the Mod's Efficiency that determine Battery Amp Draw.

Battery Amps = (Wattage / Cut-Off Voltage) / (Mod's Efficiency)

Most Mod's have an Efficiency of around 90% ~ 95%. So Most people use 0.9 in their calculations to be on the Safe Side.

---

Running Dual Coils on a Single 18650 Battery Mod can have a pretty short Run Time if the Coils are High Mass. And Need a Lot of watts to get them Heated.

They Also can go thru e-Liquid kinda Fast.

I'd Test Out your build a little before taking out n' about to see just what kind of Battery Life you are getting. And How Fast that build will drain your RTA's Tank.

I may end up running it on my SXMini G Class zoiDman

Yeah... Doing Dual Coils like 24/36 NiChrome 80 on a single battery mod might make the Run-Time kinda short.

BTW - With a Dual Battery Regulated Mod, the Battery Amp Draw is Split between the 2 Batteries.

BTW2 - Have you tried a Plain Old Single Wire build for Dual Coils? Something like 26ga 316/316L or NiChrome 80?

No I have not as the last wire I used I was getting some really funny readings and a friend told me about the one I mentioned and up to now its been great

You might give them Another Try sometime down the road. Maybe with some different wire.

Lower Mass coils are Nice because you Don't need to throw as many Watts at them to get a Similar Hit.

So I should get a roll of this 26ga 316/316L? How many more wraps do they normally take to get the same result as the wire im using now? The last wire that was giving weird readings was not ss 316 though

I would.

I mean, a 50' Roll of wire cost about 5 Bucks.

5 Wraps of 316 or 316L around a 3mm rod would be about 0.4 Ohms (0.2 Ohms for a Dual Coil)
5 Wraps of NiChrom 80 around a 3mm rod would be about 0.5 Ohms (0.25 Ohms for a Dual Coil)

Here is a Good Site for doing "What If" Coils...
