Today marks my 3rd week not smoking!!! I am extremely excited to have quit smoking. I thought vaping would save me money, lol. I have spent well over $200, not including the generic gas station ecigs, and refill cartos I started on. lol. I am loving it. I promised my husband I would spend anymore money, at least this week lol. Once I think Im good, I do the most dangerous thing and go to my suppliers website. Just gotta try all the juices, sometimes I dont give em all the time they need to steep before Im fillin the little carto just for a lil taste. Does the newness ever wear off and your content with what you have? I seen some of your collections, and WOW! Will that be me someday? lol Lovin my new hobby and this place to share it with and LEARN!!! I do see DIY in my future =)

I've got experience, a setup that works right all the time, and a juice that I can vape all day every day, so it's just a matter of maintaining a supply at this point. I make a large juice purchase every few months, order atty's a couple times a year, and buy the occasional toy. But for the most part I'm over the stage of wanting everything in sight. If I don't think something is going to help me stay quit, or make things easier, I don't buy it.

Congrats on your 3 weeks :) I really think newbies should understand that in your first year the chances of saving lots and lots of money arent all that good. Yes, some people do, especially if they had a really high cost for smoking, and more "could" BUT trying new stuff and finding what you really like and works best for YOU is a piece of what keeps many away from smoking in that first year. ECF is a great place to learn all we need to know abt vaping but its one downfall is we read about all the great vaping toys and human nature wants us to try them all. :D

When you reach the end of your first year I think from then on it becomes much easier to start realizing some savings if thats what you wish to do.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have. :)

I just "window shop" a lot. : )

A month in and have only used a couple of eJuices and my original starter kit. It is interesting to me how women really get into the technology of vaping (of course me do too). When women usually seem to not be that techno crazed about other things. I think it is more that the vaping experience is sooooo enjoyable.

Cheers!

You are investing in what is hopefully a healthier future. Being a "newbie" is such an exciting time, feeling better from not smoking and discovering the loads and loads of vaping supplies out there. Enjoy the new experience and all in due time you'll start to see more of a routine setting in, be it buying every new thing that becomes available or settling in and happy with one certain setup.

Congrats and welcome aboard! :)

I think the excitement of shiny stuff is the best part:D...Spend that money, enjoy it, treat yourself. I also find that even though I'm not saving money, It changes how I spend it. I used to eat out ALOT...mcdonalds every day kinda deal, as I'm a student on the go. When vaping came along, it really gave me a monetary perspective that I enjoy. I couldn't justify spending 12 bucks at mcdonald's, when 12$ could also buy me 30ml of juice, and last me a month of vaping. The 100 bucks I spend on mcdonald's each month, now goes towards keeping me off analogs. I think it's a win-win

I think you HAVE to go big in the beginning. As newbies, we don't have backups, so if one thing goes wrong, we're high and dry before what we need comes in. If I lose a battery, or my charger dies, or I run out of juice, any one of those things makes it all to easy to go back to analogs. I think you need reliability and security as quickly as possible before you can worry about saving money.

For example, I ordered a provari, because it is a reliable, high quality vape. I scrounged pennies for 4 weeks before I could afford it (it's coming tomorrow!). Only then, will I truly feel safe :)

I dunno, take a look at my banner. ;) And worse, I have some more things I'm going to be ordering with tax money. More of my daily vape flavor, PG, and nic for DIY, extra batteries, and a tank (i priced the stuff I want at $130). The ego stuff I bought in the beginning is still here as backups. With the new stuff I am going to order, I'll have enough supplies to last easily over a year.

My first attempt at vaping failed miserably when I had battery failure, and no $ to replace my supplies. I refuse to let myself fail again. IMO, it's worth the $ spent to have spares and backups, and backups of the backups.

As another note, the ego stuff I originally bought is now also serving as spares to my husband who just started vaping a week ago.

I have been thinking about this, and your post finally gave me the motivation to follow through...

I am one month 10 days into vaping. Still the occasional pack of analogs (can't figure out why- don't like the taste, don't like the smell, physical and emotional needs met but still... well this is another post. Not trying to hijack your thread) what was I saying??? Oh yeah-

so I just set up a spreadsheet with my vaping costs vs. smoking savings. Right now I am still $85 in the hole. But I expect that to change to money saved soon, probably within the month. Especially since I am DIYing my juice now. That saves so much!

So hang in there! Hopefully we will level out soon! LOL

At first I saved all my vaping receipts, thinking I would like to see how much I saved. :lol:The whole stack finally went into the garbage. I think I almost break even if I add up what I used to spend on cigs, lighters, air freshener, plug ins, frebreeze, gum, mints, body spray, etc.... I know I feel healthier and that is priceless.
Have fun and congratulations!

Took me just a bit over 6 months to 'break even'. I now have several VVs and not really looking for anything new. Still have my eGos, which I consider THE setup for n00bs, as back ups.

Now, most of my expenditure$ are for eGo starter kits for those I introduce to vaping.

Yeah, I meant to include too that it doesn't matter if I save money or not because I am healthier and smell better and I can taste more and... you know the list. It will just be nice to add one more plus to the pro column eventually. But I am tired so I am losing thoughts before I can type them. And prone to rambling- you may have noticed that already. ;)

I'm probably not quite at the break even point, but I've got enough supplies for 3 or 4 months, including juice & cartos. I don't NEED to buy anything else for a while. But, I probably will. Sometime this year we'll be moving & I'll probably not be able to get a decent job when I do (I'll be 60, not prime time for being hired!). So, while I have income, I'll probably stock up more.

I sometimes wonder if the "and save money!" part of why to vape shouldn't be nixed totally. It obviously does, but there are "start up" costs which requires one to spend more than if they kept shelling out $5 a day for cigs. Heck, I can eat at McDonalds every day for a year and for way less money then I would spend on building myself a kitchen. Doesn't mean I should shelve saving thousands of dollars over the next five years, and eating much healthier too, if I just bite the bullet and build that kitchen.

Hopefully, vaping will not fall into the taxation plans government has. But if it does, it still should be a very credible way of quitting smoking.

I am with you babe!! .... I also found shopping for different products addicting and within the first 4months I had spent .... well much too much, lol.

I have slowed down alot because I have not purchased anything since before xmas, whereas I was buying something every other week for the first 6months.... and I must admit that I miss e-cig shopping because there is nothing like vapemail :D
