I'm wanting to make a home made 510 passthru to use at home and have found SEVERAL plugs like you use to charge a Cell Phone or similar that say 4 or 5 volt output. Would it make a difference as to which tank or Clearomizer I use with it. For instance I'm using an EGO with a clearomizer and the hit is harsh, but the Vision is smoother on an EGO? Will 4 or 5 volt output give a better vape with a 1.5-2.0ohm cart? Thanx Trying to learn, lol

What amp output fox? That is very important, perhaps more important than voltage. They have to be at least 2 amps in order to support 4v-5v vaping. You may want to make something like this :Reviews: 2AA Passthru - 510 (Unregulated) [2AA-passthru-510] - $21.99 : eCigMods.com, Cumming, Georgia As far as the tank/carto/atty used... 4v is great with 1.5 ohms. 4.5v is great with about 1.8-2.0 ohms 5v is great with 2.0-2.5 ohms 6v is great with 2.5-3.0 ohm. I hope that helps.
The battery box can be found at radioshack, as well as a NO (normally open) Momentary pushbutton switch. that is the switch you want. If you want a master on/off switch, there will be one on the battery box as well. Also look here at Welcome to MadVapes LLC they have everything you need, and at decent prices for a one stop. just look in the diy mods section :)

If you want to use the plug you have you could post over in the modding forum. those people know better than I, but I am pretty sure you will hear that 300mah is not going to be enough. The vv power source linked above is only 9 bucks shipped, and has 1.5 amps. it will give you a satisfying vape. look at grimm green's video about the saber touch and he is using the passthrough and going on about how much he loves it.

Please be careful. Reading this thread has me worried about you and the advice give.
First off, mAH is a storage capacity, not power output of a transformer. MA is what the power adapter can supply.
Do not hold a wire while touching it to the atomizer adapter. That is crazy. Voltage is NOT what kills you.
The .85A and such rating for the parts you were considering are seriously underrated. 28ga wire used in these unit can NOT safely handle the amperage you will be drawing. The makeup components either.
Finally, if you have to ask these questions, I wouldn't attempt building your own until you have learned enough to be safe. Please.

fair enough ckone, that part has been deleted. I was just saying what I would do if I had a plug I wanted to use, probably shouldn't have because I can definitely see how someone can go wrong there, I had a momentary lapse of judgement posting that. but seriously fox, think about the plug I linked to if you are still wanting to do a passthru mod, and ckone is right, study a little on electronics. if you hook that plug up to a momentary switch, and don't cross any wires, then on to the atty connection, it will give you a good vape.
