Ok Reonauts I've got a problem

I just got my first Reos last week. A mini woody and a 2.1. The 2.1 came with a Igo and I'm running it with a single1.5 coil made from 28g kanthal, 3mg nic and even tried 0.

Do you remember the first time you inhaled? I remember mine like it was yesterday, It was a Moonshine Crook cigar stolen from my grandaddy 39 years ago. I coughed, spit and gagged so much my grandmother heard me. She, thought I was choking and with a evil grin on her face said go ahead finish it. Needless to say I laid around on the sofa with a cold rag on my face the rest of the day. Listening to her giggle and say I bet you won't do that again. She was right. No cigars for me since.

Now here is the problem. When I hit the Reo 2.1 with the Igo It brings back memories. Coughing and gagging, less the spitting. It's not dry hits like I first thought. I'll take the cap off and squonk to make sure the coil and cotton are nice and juicy. Same result. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? I have been using the woody with a 1.7ohm shorty carto with no problems. I was about to order the RM 3 for it, but I'm holding off until I can figure out what's going on.

I'll bet that it's your air hole alignment. You want the hole directly facing your coil and you want your coil the same height as the air hole as well.

If you could post some pics of your build it would help us diagnose you problem.

If your igo was new, did you give it a good wash to get rid of the machine oil?

Also, check for hot legs. I have buit a coil and fired it onlt to get a hot leg after using it for a day. Not sure how this happened, but it did.

Thanks for the thread Ancient Puffer. There are several things there I'm going to try. As for a pic my phone cam is broken. I will borrow one tomorrow and get one posted. Fuzzy it was used and I gave it a good bath and no hot legs at the moment. This Igo doesn't have a hole it comes in around the center post.

I'm horrible at explaining but I'll try... My experience between the two, cartos and rba, I tend to draw a lot harder off the carto and do a mouth to lung inhale. with an rba I kinda take a slower, longer draw more of a lung hit but I don't always inhale deep into my lungs. If I draw off an rda the way I do a carto I get a mouthful of juice and cough up a lung.

Which igo? I remember I've had one on a mech mod and the aitholes are ridiculously small. Make sure your airholes on the top cap are aligned with the coils. That build I wouldn't think would give you that experience you're getting. Try a mouth to lung see how that goes. Just draw the vapor in your mouth like you're drinking from a straw then take a deep breath. Not the best advice but the airholes are one thing I could see causing it

You are right. After reading your reply I changed out the top caps to the one with the larger air hole, lung inhaled and it made a world of difference. I'm a mouth to lunger. With a little practice I may be ok. Thank You! Ginny

Try a slip stream draw (don't seal your mouth completely on your tip bring in some air on your draw) if that helps most likely you just need a drill.

Your story brings back memories of my first puffs nearly 60 years ago... on a cub scout camp out, trying to smoke a rolled up piece of canvas strap off a pack. What can I say except just copying relatives (my grandparents, some of my aunts and uncles smoked).

Glad you're getting it dialed in. I have an IGO-S with an enlarged air hole on one of my Baby 14500 Woodies. It makes for a great small/light combo to carry with a 28G 1.0 RxW build for my very long long hits, and the batt lasts long enough to get in 2 or 3 wee hours of the night walks.

Also, I wouldn't let the Igo be the deciding factor for getting an rm3. I could put the same build on my igo and rm2 and I'd pick the rm2 all day. I haven't got my rm3 yet,should be here today or tomorrow. Hope it's as good as they claim it is.

No worries are necessary on the RM3 IMO, a great little bf atty (I have 2) that for my uses does anything all my RM2's do and more with an easy dual coil build.

You could always attach one of those stirstraws to the outside of the drip tip, and trim it so it's even with the opening
