I love being a non cig person, I put that behind me never to return at this point, dont think I could even if I wanted to which I dont!

There is only one problem I am having with being a non cig person,
EVERYTHING STINKS:facepalm:

It is driving me nuts! I smell everything! And much of it stinks,

The trash especially on trash day on the street, the ground musty after a rain, my garage even though it is clean, smells dusty or something, driving by a pond about gags me, this is rediculas!!

So what stinks to you now , that you never noticed before ?

Or am I even stranger then you already know I am ???? :D:D

OMG GF.........i know what u mean!! My house in a nut shell...stinks.. i have 2 male mini doxies, and they have peed almost everywhere. and that smell is everywhere. to me anyway. My trash, even some of the flavorings for vaping...yuck.. i have them in a ziplock, in a metal tin that closes very tight, and i still smell them. I think that anything and evrything that has been in my house since it was erected, i smell! the only thing i dont smell is my breath.. which my son reminds me all the time that it stinks!! Smoke i guess covered it up.. I am always brushing my teeth now. lol.. I wish i could smell that so i would know! .... now on the up side.. the flowers, and after a rain, or when the breeze catches the honey suckle... wow!! and i love the smell of my hubby, his natural smell is so sexy! and i love onions so much now too, and the smell of cookin.

I know exactly what you're talking about! I have to stay inside as much as possible on Fridays, that's trash day on our street. It almost makes me sick to go outside, even for a few minutes to let my dog out! Also, I never noticed the litter boxes before, but I sure do now...even if it's just one kitty pee in there! And smokers...I never realized how I smelled as a smoker...well, I couldn't smell it! But I sure can now. I feel bad that my non-smoking partner had to live with that smell for so long. :(

Been smoke free for like 3 months the only smell change I've really noticed is that I can smell smoke. And even then, only if its being smoked in front of me. My friend would go outside and come back and I'd be fine. Sam would be like "Lindsay smells good." and he's been quit for less time than me. Maybe I just don't have a great pallet.

OMG. I work for a construction company. Construction scheduler and bookkeeper. Between 3 and 5 pm I have about 20 stinky men coming in and out of the building AND my office. Fridays are even worse because we have the sub contractors coming in for checks too. I need to talk to a lot of them about what got done on the different jobs that day so I can schedule things accordingly. It is so disgusting. Dirty, stinking, sweaty men. Gross. By about 4:00 it is just not safe to come into my office. I get pretty grossed out by it all and I just can't take another minute of it. By about 4:00 it's all I can do to be in the building and I've got these guys coming into my office. And they all feel the need to tell me how rough there day was and they like to include every stinking detail. Well, I don't give a ...... Just tell me if it got done or not. That's all I need to know at that point. I know it's a tough job, especially in the Florida heat and humidity and all. But nothing could compare to what I have to endure the last 2 or 3 hours of my day. I've acutually had to tell them to PLEASE get out of my office. On a few occassions, I had to get out of my office to keep myself from getting sick. It's really disgusting. I can't wait for winter to get here. Not nearly as smelly in the winter months. lol.
And the cat box! Don't even get me started. It's on the lanai, outside and I can't stand to even go out there anymore. Hubby does a great job at keeping it clean but I hate the fact that it's even there.

I'm wondering if this smell everything goes away in time? I kinda hope so,
other people that have never smoked dont seem to notice all this stuff , or maby
to them it is just normal that everything stinks ???

If a blind person were to suddenly see, he would be overloaded and take in much more of his surroundings than that of someone who has seen their entire lives.

I know, right! I love my cats, most of them were tiny babies when I found or got them and needed to be bottle fed...one was just one day old, cord still attached! I love them like children almost...but I swear, if someone awesome wanted a couple of them, I'd let them go...just because I can't take the smell of them anymore. Makes me sad to think that way. :( And Beth and I both clean the boxes daily! And my poor stinky dog...even if she gets a bath, she stinks. She's old though, I still love on her and DO love her very much...she just smells so bad. I never EVER noticed any of this when I smoked.

Sallena I hope you are right, and very well could be. The analogy to a blind man is a good one. There may be hope for a less stinky life still LOL

Not to nitpick dear, but it's Sallana. Common mistake, but two very different sounding names. :p

I think there is still hope! I think you're just noticing it more because it's all just coming back to you. It might take another 6 months, but it'll fade.

When I started riding with my husband I made the comment that the best thing about riding motorcycles was all the smells, and the worst thing about it was all the smells. Same thing with not smoking anymore. The good part is your sense of smell and taste come back, and the bad thing is your sense of smell and taste come back. Things you used to love to eat, you won't be able to stand anymore. Things you used to hate to eat, you will find out you love them. It's definitely a double edged sword.

Gosh Chelle, We have a lot in common. I had five cats for many, many years. The last one died at the age of 18. So I thought I was done with cat boxes, but then my sweet husband lured a pregnant stray cat to our house and she delivered the kittens in our house. So needless to say we now have two cats. The second one doesn't use a litter box. She just goes and sits by the door and meows when she wants to go out to do her business. She's an awesome cat!!!
And my dog, bless her heart just passed not to long ago. Old dogs do have a smell but dang you just gotta love 'em. Nothin better than a good old dog hanging out with ya. I miss my old "Trixi Girl" every day.

Glad I am not the only one who feels guilty for forcing my non-smoking partner to live with my cig stink for 20+ years. She sat me down one day a year ago and said she had spent the first 20 yrs with a smoker now it was up to me to make sure she spent the next 20 with a nonsmoker. Thanks to ecigs I am finally that nonsmoker. I had no idea how bad the smell was for her all those years. I cannot stand even walking past someone that has recently smoked. I cannot beleive I smealled that bad for so many years. Jenn

All of this is sooo true! I use to light candles and use air freshener to cover up the smoke smell. Now I use them to mask everyday real odors. Kitchen trash, litter box, sweaty grandson, SIL with IBS and eats too many beans, wet dogs, Tracey's worker's who want to give me a hug. I buy Oust in a 6-pk!

Missy is right though, I get a wonderful greeting from the gardenia's, jasmine, and roses by the front door. Life is a trade off and my closet sure smells better.

Tracey, I have 5 cats, the dog and two pet rats in my home. I'm so turned off by all them at this point that I don't know if I'll ever have inside pets again! I'm such a sucker for a needy critter...but I'm done! I have three other cats outside that are AWESOME though. They're ALL truly awesome and I love them, but somethings got to give. I can't kill all the smells all the time. No matter how much I clean. I gave my turtles away (to awesome people with a pond) because of the tank smell...and I had an incredible filter in there and cleaned it bi-weekly! I'm sorry to hear about your dog. :( We had to have one put down a few months ago...it was so hard. I feel for you, honey.

Also, my partner is a saint! She didn't want me to smoke for health reasons, but never complained about how I smelled. I should send her flowers tomorrow, come to think of it. LOL!
