Hello again :)

So I posted yesterday because when vaping it was very harsh on my lungs, and I got lots of help, thank you very much. I followed advice given and have realised now, with much practice and concentration, that it's not my lungs that's the problem. It's irritating my...(sorry, this sounds really dumb, but at this second I can't remember what it's called) the bit between your throat and lungs, so it's fine in my mouth and doesn't hurt my throat or lungs but on the way down it irritates like i'm gonna have a coughing fit...is that normal and something I will get used to?

Yes. This is something that you will get used to. It happened to me, too. At first, I took shorter 'puffs' until I got used to it. But you will.

Well it's nice to know it's not just me (though I do feel bad for you guys) how long have you two been vaping? It hasn't put you off?
I've been vaping now since December, about a month.
It lasted for about 2 days until I figured out how to take shorter puffs on my eCig, then, as soon as I eased it up a bit, it went away. Then, I went back to heavy vaping again and it didn't bother me at all. It's part of getting used to the diff between analogs and vaping.
Did it put me off? No. I was worried, like you, at first- I was afraid vaping might not be for me- but that isn't the case. It's just part of the switch.

Do you mean your esophagus? (I have no idea if I spelled that right, prob not)

Like others said, you will get used to it and it will go away. Just take slower smaller hits until it eases up

Spelling:correct
Anatomy: incorrect ;)

Esophagus is the path from the oropharynx (back of the mouth/throat) to the stomach
Trachea, or "windpipe" is the tube to the lungs, and possibly what the OP was referring to.

I know exactly the feeling you are speaking of, I believe this is what's considered "throat hit", while I don't find it to be normal, most seem to have no problem with it .... and I myself have asked is this something to "get used to" however, I found I simply cannot....

If you find the same, then I would suggest going with a lower nic content.... 6mg is about all I can take without coughing, while with 12 & 18mg I just could not get use to the irritation and choking cough. So I guess it's on you as to whether you can muscle through it or not.

it would be the posterior pharynx or what I think that people are thinking of is the epiglottis the "flap" that covers the trachea when you swallow. if you could describe the type of feeling and what helps it and what makes it worse we may be able to narrow it down a little (and yes I am a medical professional but not a M.D.)

Thanks for the info Nikkita :) I don't think mine is a throat hit, I thought that was when it actually hit the back of your throat, not the bit that goes down...but I am very easily confused so... I'll persevere and if I can't get used to it I'll switch to a lower nicotine.

Ok, a medical professional...I will try my best to describe it...so it doesn't irritate the bit where my tonsils are, it's the next bit along, as i breathe in the vapour before it gets to my lungs it makes me feel like I need to cough...that's not a great explanation is it  the only thing that makes it better is coughing, and it's only made worse by taking in more vapour
