Have a few year old 4 bay Nitecore smartcharger ... before they came with LCDs. Noticed walking into the dark room the blue idiot light was intermittently flashing on & off ... like it was loosing power or something. The charge lights remained on, and it seems to be charging the 18650s & 350s just fine.

LED problem, or time for a new charger? If so, what you recommend .... another NiteCore, a Pila, a ....???? TIA

xtar has the best value for the money these days. Get them from a dealer and they come with a two year warranty.

The one thing I would be concerned with about that problem is it may be an indication that the power supply is going wonky or a component failure on the PCB is imminent. Might be a minor thing or... might not. With no schematic there is no way to really tell so it may be best to just replace it to prevent a bad from happening.

I don't know the Nitecore chargers so I don't know if that's bad or not.

I've been using an Xtar charger for over two years now and it's still doing the job very well for me now. There are a bunch of good chargers out there and a few bad ones. I use this site for reviews: Batteries and chargers.

He knows what he's doing with reviews. If you're looking for a new one, IMO a lot depends on what features you want and how much money you are willing to spend.

Hope this helps a bit :)
