Old Smoker now a New Vaper

Hello and thank you for your expertise and the willingness to share it. I have used this site and had several questions answered by researching. This one I have had trouble finding an answer to. I have smoked unfiltered cigarettes for 30 plus years. I am now using a Istick 30W with Nautilus tank and 1.8ohm coils. I am using 70PG/30VG at 24mg nic. I am enjoying the setup and the throat hit is OK but I am missing the heat of the inhale. I can get the watts to about 13 on my set up but any higher fries the coils. Also, I must stealth vape at all times. Is there a set up that will allow for a hot inhale with minimal smoke? Once again, thank you all.

The only method i can think of is to vape a maximum PG juice (most flavours are in PG anyway) and you could get higher depending on what your nicotine is suspended in.

Typically stealth vaping is achieved with a double inhale and if you have to exhale, do so down the front of your shirt. Always keep hot coffee on hand to blame for the steam.

Your coils are not particularly brutal, but the problem with going lower is you may get the heat you want, but you also have to hide it! Try some lower rated coils and try them on a weekend at home perhaps.

Another possibility. Ignore the issue and see if it goes away. There are lots of good reasons to stay at low watts if you can. I shouldn't talk. I started exactly where you are including the same tank. These days I'm using temp control at 400 degrees and 30 max watts with 1.4 ohm coils. The 30 watts happens only for a fraction of a second until the coil gets to the set temp. More heat may require more watts. May be there is an experienced low watt vaper who knows how to get the heat you want from an N mini.

Thank you for the replies and insight. Supertrunker, I was thinking of trying the DIY route for juice and saw where they had the base of 100% PG at 24mg of nic. That is a great idea. Thank you.
BrotherBob, that coffee cup warmer is genius. Maybe one day I will have the guts to try the RBTA.
Sofarsogood, I think I would like to try that temp control set up once I get a little more experience. Thanks again all.

Welcome to ECF!

I find the vape from my Ego One Tank with the 1 ohm CLR coil very warm. I use 60/40 VG/PG so it puts out a lot of vapor. With your high PG mix, there would be less vapor.

I'd like to second this good advice imo. 1.8 Ohms is a little high if you want a warmer vape. Try grabbing a tank with 0.7-1.0 ohm coil heads available. You'll be able to increase the wattage beyond 13 too without frying anything. If you mouth to lung with higher PG, the vapor production can be kept low.

Good luck, and welcome :)

You get more heat when your mouth is closer to the coil. Using a shorter tank/rda/whatever or the shortest possible drip tip/mouthpiece will get the vapor into your mouth before it has a chance to cool.
Great advice for you above, @firemarshalmike .
Shorter tank, shorter drip tip and lower ohm coil. I used to use Nautilus Minis, then switched to this tank:Eleaf GS-Tank TC Set - $12.50 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes
But I don't use the super low sub-ohm coils that come with the tanks. Instead I use these .75 coils also made to fit the tanks: Eleaf GS-Air Cotton .75/1.2 Replacement Coils NEW 5 Pack - $10.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes Looks like those .75s are out of stock at the moment, but should be back in any day now. The 1.2 coils will also work. Neither of those are as easy to rebuild as the 1.5 Eleaf coils that will also fit the tank I linked above. Here's a link to the 1.5 coil, super easy to rebuild to your desired resistance:Eleaf GS-Air Replacement Coils 5 Pack - $9.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes
Rocky Mountain Vapor ships anything over $14 for free and has a permanent 25% off code "President".
I'm an old smoker, myself. Welcome!

It could be a problem with the device. My husband had been running 2 istick 30 watts and just wasn't happy so he switched out to something else and gave me the 2 30 watts. When I tried them out they just seemed weak and off to me even when I pushed to 13+watts. What I had been using and still do are a pair of Istick 20 watts at 5-6 watts with a 1.8 ohm topper, juice at 50/50 and can easily stealth if needed. I just could not get that 30 watt to get up to speed no matter what I did. Not saying you should get the 20 watt and not sure you could find one if you wanted to, just that maybe it's not you but the device.
Wishing you luck and joy in your vaping journey!
