Thanks Strider! He has a rod from his knee to ankle, hopefully tomorrow at the Dr we will get an idea of how long this will take

Hopefully I can put him to work soon to keep him outa my hair hehe, always need thank you gift bags made up! LOL
I hope everything is okay for him. Everyone is different but this is a small example from something that happened to me just a few years ago.......
In 2009, I completely shattered my right ankle. The doctors had to, basically, rebuild the ankle due to the fact that all the bone was in such small pieces. They installed a 13 inch bar (with a bent end to replicate the knot of the ankle) and held it into place with 8 very long screws. I had a "same day surgery" and was home hours after surgery. I spent the next 3 months on my back or stomach. By month 4 I could move around, very carefully, in a walking boot. By month 6, no walking boot, but needed a cane for support.
It was 10 months after the surgery before I could walk with no cane............but I had a limp for the next 18 months. The doctor said it was "in my head" but I'll tell ya, it hurt most days.........even a year after surgery.
Weird thing though....................One day I missed a step walking down a friends front stoop and when I landed on that leg I heard a load freaking POP!!!...........and there was NO more pain from that minute on!!! I've walked with no limp since that day.
It DOES get pretty sore on very cold days and I actually feel the cold in my leg bone...........and days where we get very bad thunderstorms, I know before the weatherman does. heheheheheeeeeeee
