on model numbers, 510, 901 # is based on what?

this is for all pv types such as 510s, 901s, 808s, 306s, etc where and how do they come up with these numbers and whats their significance. measurements of some type, the weight of the guy that invented them or what?? i have a feeling when i get an answer to this im gonna feel REAL dumb. but thats ok, i need to know and feel to stupid to break out the ruler and start measuring my ecigs

No significance as far as I'm aware. I have seen that confirmed by at least one manufacturer, although which manufacturer escapes me now. But they are just identifying numbers. Occasionally they have something like the overall length incorporated into them like the DSE084 (which is an 84mm supermini) but it's not consistent.
