And that's what I call e-cigs & this forum. This community has been nothing short of encouraging & very informative. Thank you & a big Hi to everyone here~ :D

I've smoked regular Dunhill with an avg. of a pack a day for around 23 years & have cut down to 10-15 sticks a day ever since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 4 years ago. 14th of Nov 2013 marks the beginning of my vaping journey when I received my order of a X6 (Ego?) with CE5 & liqua mints 9mg in the mail. It's probably too early to gauge but the transition has surprisingly been fairly smooth so far & I haven't touched an analog since then yet. I did however get a bit jittery when I had to wait for the x6 to recharge after its 1st 3 days of use (yup, I ought to get spares soon, I know).

Well, I definitely have a long way to go from weaning myself away from cigarettes for good but for once, I actually feel optimistic about it. There is so much to learn & I'm still overwhelmed by the vast amount of info here to have any questions yet, but I'm looking forward to interacting more with the great folks here in the future. Thanks again for having me. :vapor:

If you have questions, just ask em, cuz everyone here has basically gone thru the exact same thing.

New guy has to bring doughnuts, its a rule I just made up.

I quit recently too (see sig) but id been lurking here for ages and its a LOT of info and its complex. But, if you just dive in, get a tank/batt/some juices..its not so awful. I dont miss analogs. I did get a craving recently but some massive vape hits and that went away.

Get GOOD juices or make your own. and some spare tanks/batts are a big plus too.

Ive picked up stuff from Nicoticket (I like Custards Last Stand), AiV (April Moon), Ahlusion (Blueberry-vanilla cake)...I enjoy the sweet vapes, might get something with pears in it next.

ah let me add: I started with 24mg juice, then ordered some 18mg stuff, and then swapped to 12mg. So I think all the flavors I listed are 12mg.

24= unfiltered cig
18 = Filtered full flavor cig
12= light cig

thats as far as I understand it, if im wrong well..someone fix my mis-information please :p

welcome and congrats on finding vape. With an ego battery you definitely need 2. For my mods I have 7 batteries that I rotate through, an excellent charge and a bunch of atomizers that I use for my different flavors of juice. I smoked for 27 years and made the change to vape with no problems at all. Started like you and worked my way up to regulated and the mechanical mods. I also got into rebuildable atomizers, rba's, and DIT juice. Good luck on your journey in vape and smoke freedom.

That's a generality and depends on the gear you are using and the watts one is vaping at. I started out at 24mg nic and as my gear improved and my builds got better and my watts vaped at climbed, I was getting more nicotine than smokes could ever give me, dropped to 18mg then 12mg of nicotine. At 12mg I am still getting all the nic that camel filters could ever deliver, and when on my mech mod and vaping at 33 watts, it's way more nicotine than any cigarette could deliver. As one advances their vape gear, often the have to change their nic levels or walk around dazed and confused constantly. But for standard introductory gear, that's a fair generality. The main thing is to listen to your body, if you are still craving nic, jump up your nic level, if one is getting over nic'd, dial it down a notch.

Congrats to you! Even if it takes time to wean yourself off of cigs, you're doing your body a favor by cutting down.

And oh my goodness get spares! I've been praying to the charging gods since one of my batteries (I only picked up 2) turned up defective on Friday. I won't make the mistake of not having back-ups for my back-ups again.

Thank you so much for the welcome & starter tips ladies & gents~ I have no doubt it is gestures like this that contributes to the higher success rate of smoking cessation for newbies like me :toast:

I reckon it also helps alot that vaping has become a far more interesting & safer hobby than smoking. Just oogling at all them great looking mods, e-pipes & stuff already distracted me from my analog cravings somewhat lol

And thanks devauto, this is great advice!
"Don't count your failures by the cigarettes you smoke, count your successes by the ones you don't smoke! "

Anyway e-cigs are banned from where I'm from (hence my location "here") so I don't really get much choices when it comes to gear & juices but looking at your general guide & dice57's insight, I'll be sure to try out juices of other nic levels when I can.

Spares are really a huge part of this journey. Unfortunately I have really taken it to heart! I have 6 batteries, 5 boxes of coils, 8 tanks and at least 25 bottles of juice! My husband who doesn't smoke or vape thinks I have lost my mind but he is proud of me that I haven't lit up in 45 days! That is huge for me after 44 years of smoking. I'm just afraid of not having what I need! I never want to feel the need to stop and buy a pack of cigs! So stock up! MORE IS MORE! Happy vaping and welcome!

Welcome! One day you will possibly gag at the thought of having one of your old "friends." I smoked for 35 years and tried everything to quit but just couldn't. I have always had the mindset of "if there's a will there's a way" but it failed me when it came to not smoking anymore. Then I discovered vaping and the transition was not bad at all. I had my moments, but every time I lit up an analog I put it out pretty quickly because I wanted my flavorful vape instead. I think there were even a few times the first few days where I had both at the same time, a puff of that one, a vape of this one. Guess which one won in the end :)

And yes, as others have said, do make sure you have backups!

@57chilicat,

I honestly don't feel that is an overkill at all & would definitely stock up too like what you're doing as I go along :D But yes, since I've just started, I refrained from spending too much at one shot just in case my girlfriend gets the impression I'm spending more on vaping than I did on smoking. Advice noted with much thanks~

Thank you for the welcome & encouragement drivesbarefoot~ Part of the reason I spend so much time here is because I love reading success stories like yours :headbang:
