So, yeah, one month came and went. Who'da thunk? I won't say it's been "effortless" but it has been "effort-less". Every now and then I think "wow, I'd kill for a cigarette" - then go vape until the feeling goes away. :)

I haven't had a cigarette since about three hours after my first shipment arrived. I took a couple draws on a cigarette to compare, then put it out and finished vaping - does that even count? [shrug] Still been over a month.

It still feels like "cheating" though. I still internally identify as a "smoker" - but last weekend when I went in to have my VO2 tested, I was more than 60% higher than I was at my training peak last year, which is pretty good considering both that it's the off-season and that I was spanking 80% of the marathoners almost half my age [cry!], and 95%+ of the cyclists. I plan on seeing some podium finishes this year!

WAY TO GO!!!!! that's so wonderful! i love to read things like this, as i am only just at my first week, though i haven't had one drag off a real cig since i began. i think if i made it through the first week, i can keep going, right? so congrats to you -- and the money you're now 'saving' as you've just broken even and began to save!

*cheers!*

NOT THAT I AM PROMOTING THIS IN THE LEAST BIT (and prolly shouldn't even post it, sorry!!!) but i did sneak a regular cig when I got one of those cravings in the first or second week and it was the nail in the coffin for me for the coffin nails (trying to be too clever?!? ;)). It was disgusting and I reeked for the rest of the day, it was enough to kill all urges for me altogether. Definitely not the best idea for everybody but it really changed everything in my eyes!

*nods* i have had this... weird habit of lighting a cig about every other day. not like, smoking it, but just the inhale to light and then putting it out. it's like a compulsion that strikes every now and then? but as far as actually 'needing to smoke', i feel like you 'drenalynn... i must be cheating cause it's just too easy!

congratulations girl! hopefully in couple weeks i'll be 1 monthin' it too.

I cracked and had a hit off a friends Djarum yesterday. It smelled so good but the taste was like emptying an ashtray with your mouth open and catching some ash. Need to find some incense that smells like djarums as I love the smell but now apparently hate the taste.

Congrats Adren!
So if not smoking a whole cig counts, 4 weeks for me today as well! hurray!

I am anxious to reach a month too, I'm on day 18 without analogs.

Had a dream last night that I was smoking an analog, and I was so disappointed in myself.

Vaping like a crazy person today just to be on the safe side!

ET - don't beat yourself up over what you dream! That's just your subconscious coming to terms with having the rug yanked out from under it.

When I stopped cycling after years of racing, training, competing, and riding 6-10hrs/day 5 days/wk+, I had cycling dreams all the time for, gosh, six months?

You've smoked longer, more, and more frequently than even that - surely your brain will have to work through some "issues" with having that whole routine changed, right?

I believe the key is to figure out whether the subconscious is just working through issues or is trying to tell you something less obvious. It works in pictures and impressions, the subconscious really doesn't have a spoken language, per-se, so you need to figure out how those dreams are making you feel, in your gut, deep down.

Summary: Don't panic! Perfectly "normal" - you're doing fine!

Congratulations! Good feeling, isn't it?!!?

When I first started vaping last May, I didn't try to kick the analogs completely. Had one in the morning and after a meal. Then got it down to just one in the morning as I got out of bed. Did that for about a month, then switched to vapor completely. Hard to believe it's been 6 months. Dang!

BTW, analogs stink to high heaven and can smell them from far away. And the stale smoke on other people's clothes is almost enough to make me gag.
