Hello. It's a little embarassing making an introduction thread as though it was for an AA meeting but alright, here goes. I've been vaping for almost a year and own a titan 510 and a tornado tank. I'd been smoking rollies for 6 years before realising my health had to improve. It was just awful; to the point where I couldn't stand for more than 20 minutes and I'm a young guy (24 in a month, yikes). I looked into electronic cigarettes, and found ECF and did my initial research here and around the internet then bought one.
Because most anecdotes end with success, I'll cut to the chase. I feel a lot better, I can actually skateboard again (which I tried when I was smoking but simply couldn't) and have a job because I'm able to move around without treatening to pass out from a lack of oxygen and terrible blood circulation. I really didn't expect it to be as effective as it was but there you go, pleasantly surprised at being at near full health again after being so ill. The transition from smoking a lot of rollies a day to vaping was almost seamless as well. I was absolutely determined to stop smoking in a way that wouldn't have me in a foul mood for months to come so my take on seamless is probably biased.
I've been on the forum for almost a year as well, just reading though and didn't really think I should sign up for any real reason. The main reason now I suppose would be to thank CAASA, ECCA and ECF members for the wealth of information here. Without it I would have been reluctant to start, and without knowing so much on the legal side of things from following FDA and MHRA threads here I wouldn't feel as confident using it in public. That "someone" is fighting to keep them not illegal or massively regulated and overpriced is a big relief, and that "someone" is researching any possible adverse effects of ecigs and their effectiveness is also amazing to be able to follow.
I've been pulled up by the police for it assuming it was for something illegal. I had to explain (rather nervously because they were practically shouting at me) what it was and why they had no right to then try to label me as a "potential drug abuser" and interrogate me for 15 minutes (mostly half implying I'm doing something illegal and probably do illegal drugs too, which I had to keep saying no to firmly). This was just walking down my local street on the way to work of all places too, and it was probably the best/worst "late for work" excuse ever. I can bet anything I'm the first person they've seen with one in this small town I live in judging by the dumbfounded aggressive reaction I got. They were very condescending and seemed to be completely disinterested with my explanation that it was a "healthier" alternative to the smoking that was sure to kill me. I was as pleasant and honest as I could possibly be about it so I hope they stop looking at it like it's wrong, but I doubt it. If I didn't know I was completely in the right to be using it and shouldn't have been stopped or questioned for so long I might have questioned the legality of using an ecig myself just because they were so forceful about it. It's a tough life in rural Scotland sometimes.
Half an essay of an introduction I suppose, and hey it's post count +1 and there's a semi-interesting story!
