Hello wonderful and helpful people!

With the more research I do, it seems the more confused I get lol J

Ok, so I’ve come to the conclusion that I want a manual battery, and I’m leaning towards VG over PG. What I’m having a hard time with is:

510 vs 801 vs 901

Which one should I get? I wasn’t a heavy smoker (pack would last me 3-4 days) and as a result Im not that concerned with battery life. (I mean I may vape more on the weekend, so I don’t want crappy bat life either) I don’t mind some DIY in terms of refilling, however convenience factor is a plus. I’d like something that feels like a smoke in terms of size/ratio, however it doesn’t really need to “look” like one. Basically I want to treat it just like “Im going for a smoke”, but not analogue :p

I was leaning towards the 510. Can anyone share some personal opinions on the matter? Do the 801 or 901 offer something different?

Thanks all!

Hello and Welcome mel_vin! Congrats on making the decision to start vaping! I have the 510 and am very happy with it. The 510 has great vapor, TH and I am quite pleased with it. The size of it, with the regular manual battery (they also have mega batts which are about an inch longer) is around the size of a 100 analog, I would say. The battery life is about 2 hours for me on the regular batts and about 3 hours, give or take, on the mega batts. I would certainly recommend that you get a PCC. But be aware, that it cannot fit the mega batts. I cannot give you any feedback on the 801 or 901 as I have never tried them but I am sure that someone will be along soon to give you some insight on them. Good Luck and let us hear from you once you receive your PV!

I have all three. The 801 has the best flavor but no throat hit and the best battery life. The 510 has the best throat hit at the sacrifice of some flavor and has the crappiest battery life. The 901 is right in between them.

Out of all 3, I like the 510 the best because it is the closest feeling to an analog. The 510 attys seem to be indestructible too. I've had the performance drop on them but I have never had one go cold on me. This is nice because you will 'feel' it when it's time to replace the atty instead of being caught by surprise. I use my 510 attys for about 4-6 weeks before replacing them. If you are a light smoker, they will last you much much longer.
901's were nice but the attys kept dying on me after a 1-2 weeks of use.

Another option to consider is the KR808D. It uses cartomizers which are more convenient and cheap. The flavor is awesome and the vapor/throat hit seems to be somewhere between a 510 and 901. The battery life will also be better on those.

And like lightinup said, if you go with a 510, make sure you get a PCC.

wow, I somehow new I would find someone here who has all 3 lol :D

Yeah PCC seems the way to go for the 510. Since Im not that heavy smoker, and some starter kits come with 2 batts, I figure that should last me the day. I may pickup one of those extended batts for the weekends or special ocasions like arround the camp fire...oh I miss summer ;)

So you would say carts are more economical? I mean figuring you need to replace an atty every couple weeks anyway. I love the ease of use factor of them...just screw them on and away you go. You can refill them right?

I love my 801. It is the one I used to stop smoking. But, including the mouthpiece, it is 6 inches long. I used to smoke 120mm cigarettes (4.7") so the extra length isn't a big deal for me. If you only smoked 4-5 cigs a day, you might prefer a shorter one.

I also like my 510. Great flavor and it creates clouds of vape. The cart does not hold much liquid and the batteries do not last very long. If you vape as infrequently as you smoked, neither of those would be a problem and this could be an excellent choice for you.

I've never tried a 901.

Rimp speaks truth! :D

Also you may find you are charging your 510 batts a lot they really don't last long - in the future you might get a battery mod (basically a larger, longer lasting battery) - or a PT (which I use). The good news is that 510 standard manual batteries (don't get autos, they really aren't as good) charge fast and if you keep 2 or 3 in rotation you can swap em in n out fairly easily. I have 4 510s - which is 2 nobox kits from cignot (Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.) at $35 each and they came with 2 chargers so it works well.
Word to the wise - the chargers have cords on them that mice would find short, grab an extension cord for 'em.

I went with the Ultimate Joy 510 kit. $99.95. Kit contains 3 Manual battery's, 3 Attys, 5 Carts, 1 PCC, 1 30ml of e-juice your choice. And every charger you could possibly need.
Unless your looking to charge more then two at once. 1 in the A/C charger. 1 in the PCC.
Shipping is free. I have found this suppler to be trustworthy and reliable. If you want the site address you can PM me. Whatever you decide. If you go with a 510. Get the PCC. The PCC will negate the poor battery life. Just got home from a 10 hour shift. Took two battery's, 1 Atty, 3 carts, and a 5ml bottle of juice to work with me. Vaped all day with out missing a beat. Oh by the way, I work outdoors. So there is no waiting for a smoke brake.

I started with a 510. Got tired of swapping batteries so often (heavy user here, used to do 2 packs a day) so I got the Screwdriver Mk II from TotallyWicked. It uses 901 thingies. The battery on that thing lasts about a day and a half of heavy vaping, so it will probably last through your entire camping weekend. I swap out batteries once every morning (can leave one on the charger continuously - it doesn't overcharge). I reload the filler in my carts with teabag paper and mix my own juice (10ml of 54mg nicotine, 10ml PG, 10ml VG, and 25 drops menthol concentrate). Plenty of vapor, no bad taste even when low on juice, and so far the 1st atty I've used has lasted over a month and still going strong. The Screwdriver does not even come close to resembling a cig (that's why they call it a Screwdriver) so I've been able to use it in restaurants without anyone complaining... and after asking the manager. So I'd recommend the Screwdriver even for a light vapor-er. Knowing what I know now that's where I'd start.
