One thing I dislike about vaping is how much of my attention it occupies

I'm still in search of that perfect vaping rig, so until then i just have to keep researching, experimenting, tinkering, etc etc which is pretty much a hobby by definition because i get some joy out of it lol. As soon as i find that perfection i'm sure i'll slow down a bit and simply enjoy my long sought after vape

I agree that vaping is very time consuming. Much more so than smoking ever was. If I wasn't an ex-smoker and didn't need to vape in order to stay off cigs, this isn't a hobby I'd be interested in. I'm hoping one day to be free from all of it - smoking, vaping, everything. It would be nice to shake off the burden.

So much time spent online, looking for supplies, and then the battery charging, liquid filling, DIY mixing, wiping and cleaning things, etc... I must say it gets old after awhile. Too much "fiddling" with stuff.

I just accept the time the 'hobby' part takes and then realized it substituted in for the time I spent cleaning up litter, ashes, trays, extra vacuuming, mending holes in sweaters where the analog touched, extra long loads of wash to make sure there was a pre-wash to remove smells I would put right back in the next day, the extra time to swing by the store for another pack, time at extra doctor's visits....

And this hobby taking the time at least spends it in a more worthwhile way, I would rather do something that is not just undoing damage done by 'habit'.

I have worked at making it as uncomplicated as I could because I do have other things to do. I online shop but on a regular basis and get a bit of stock so I am not shipping everyday or blowing all my surfable hours on e-cig vendor sites. It does become a lot less time consuming when you get settled with a couple of good vendors you like, that carry what you need and you know are competitively priced. Then the most time consuming shopping only happens occasionally when a big hardware purchase is needed and comparative shopping might be needed outside your normal vendors.

I pretty much gave up DIY except now and then to use up leftover supplies and a see a really good sounding recipe someone mixes up. It was too time consuming and what it did save in cost was not really a saving once I considered the time that went into it.

I invested in a box of pre-moistened towelettes to solve the time spent on wiping down and get rid of anything that leaks. I have enough accessories now that I can schedule cleaning/maintenance for one day a week instead of an ongoing daily rotation.

I avoided cartridges and dripping because of the business of fiddling around filling too much and prefer tanks because that way they only need filling once a day. I don't have an ADV - can't not change up flavors during the day - but just switch out tanks as needed.

It can be worked out to be less time consuming especially if you are ready for that. While nicotine is considered the 'addictive' in analongs there is a lot of mechanical and psychological addiction that goes with it that many are just unaware of. I believe vaping works so well because the 'hobby' 'toy' angle fills a lot of those needs in the beginning, and that a lot of that settles out with time.

I'm getting to the point where I don't have a table top full of filled carts, tanks, clearos, RBA's and batteries laying around any more, nailed flavors down to about 4 and feel the most comfortable with just three fully rigged pieces of gear going at one time. I charge batteries and fill things up in the evening for the next day but that only takes a few minutes. Yes it is a small hobby, and redoing RBA's takes some time but I enjoy doing that. Amazing I only smoked one brand of cigarettes with only one pack opened at a time.

I don't see it as all that complicated. Sure, there is a learning curve to find the equipment and juice that works for you, but once you have it figured out it isn't that bad.

When I smoked a pipe, I didn't own just one pipe (and pipes weren't cheap). I remember the quest for the right pipe tobacco and waiting for the postman to bring me something new. When I went out, I had to bring the pipe, a pouch of tobacco, a pipe tool, pipe cleaners, and at least one lighter. When I smoked cigarettes, I tried all of the different brands never left home without a spare pack and spare lighters.

Now, I just tuck my little Vmod in my pocket. I have a little kit with spare battery, spare atty, and a spare bottle of juice that is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. When a bottle is empty, I just fill it. It really isn't much more complicated than the old days.

rounding third and heading home...
From either shopping for juices and deals, to not being able to put the damn thing down. It's become a hobby I never wanted. But at least I'm not smoking....and one day I will find the perfect set up and I can end my search. :)

all i know is this- I vape FAR more than I ever smoked. I can count the times during the day when i'm not vaping a lot easier than I can count the times when I am. I've also noticed I've added about 30 new places to my favorites list, all vape related. I sure hope this turns out to be better for me and not just a more time consuming and maybe more expensive habit. gotsa have my nicotine.....

In the beginning the involvement was helpful, it kept my mind off of wanting a cig. I like fiddling with stuff. I have resigned myself to the fact that I'll never achieve the perfect vape, Just when you think it couldn't get any better something new comes along. I don't have any plans to quit vaping, I'm now a Disciple of the Church of Vape and I'm on a mission to spread the Gospel. It's a hobby I enjoy and I'm building up a healthy stock of good Karma by spreading the love. Whats not to love?
