Hello dear reader, I’m back with another one year in Review, starring the uwell Crown IV (4) mod.
I bought this mod in October 2018 for my wife because her old mod crapped out (RIP Ehpro 101).
Product living conditions: Most of my mods and attys get used and abused extensively, if they last longer than a year, it’s already impressive. My wife as well as my closest friends, whom I proudly converted from smoking, have permission to use most of my stuff. Which sometimes results in dead mods and beat up devices. We also have a “community vape cemetery” kind of thing going. I hate obsolete stuff so I think it may be worth to look for older gear, that is cheaper by now, if one knows if it’s worth it. I’ll do my best to give you my unbiased opinion.
Again, I want to highlight a product, that still works after being used for little over a year.
This time around and still alive, the Uwell Crown IV Mod. Let’s see how this one held up.

stock photo because reasons.
Package Contents:
· the Mod itself (duh!)· Micro USB Cable· User Manual
Appearance: Shiny... Shiny as .... but the ornament is kind of nice and the crown logo has always had an elegant vibe.As you can probably tell by the pics, someone really likes blue, I used a stock photo for the title picture because this mod has seen some serious abuse since it got here. The form factor is nice, its not much higher than an 18650 and a good bit smaller than your usual dual battery mods. The screen is rather minimalistic and there are lots of better ones out there but it’s bright enough to read out in the daylight. The fire button has the crown logo extruding which gives it a good feel and it’s nice and clicky.
Usage: The Crown 4 uses a very simple Menu, reminding me of the one Teslacigs used in their mods. Five clicks to turn on as usual and you are greeted by a “uwell” on the screen, three clicks to highlight the mode and change it via +-. There’s power mode, SS904 which is especially for the SS904 Coil for the Crown Subtank, which I don’t have, and TCR. Hold + and – to flip the screen orientation, hold fire and – to lock everything, or hold fire and + to lock the + and – button. Aaaaand that’s it, simple menu indeed.
Thoughts/Experience: Everytime I hold this in my hands, I could swear it was a bit bigger in my mind than it is, must have to do with the mirror door finish. I really like the form factor and it should fit nicely in most pockets. It fires fast and reliable, not once did the button not react. For me, this is a wattage only mod, TCR was just messy and not enjoyable, I can’t comment on the SS904 mod since I don’t own the Sub ohm tank to test it.
Over time, a lot of the paint on the sides of the doors chipped due to the mod being carried in various handbags and thrown around in cupholders. It survived a freezings night in the forest after being lost and was eventually found by me and the dog. I had to clean some ants out of the Reload RTA that’s sitting on top of the Crown 4 but the mod didn’t take any damage. Of course I checked everything, especially the batteries after this incident. Impressive build quality by Uwell here all around, this mod is in constant use, as you can see from the pictures, except the chipped paint there’s nothing wrong with it at all.
There is one strange nitpick I have with it though, it seems to dislike certain batteries. I takes all the pairs of VTC5’s and 30Q’s I own, but it won’t accept the two pairs of HG2’s I still use but will dispose of in the next weeks. The batteries work in every other mod I own, not sure what’s the culprit here as I couldn’t make out any size difference using a digital caliper. But as long as that’s the only con, I’m a happy carnivore.
Damages: Lots of chipped paint.

Paint chipping off
Pros:
· Shiny (?)
· Sturdy, I mean really sturdy.
· Easy Menu
· Beginner Friendly
· Nice Colors
Cons:
· Screen is not the best in its class
· Dislikes LG Batteries (?)
· Messy TC performance

Summary: The Crown IV is a well-built powerhorse of a Mod, that still works flawless after a year of day to day abuse. TC wasn’t my cup of tea with this one, but I rarely use TC personally so it’s not a big deal. For the price it was a decent buy and except for the chipping paint on the sides I have nothing to complain about. All in all a good power mode dual battery mod with a nice form factor. 6.5/10 and a big plus for the build quality.
I quit cigarettes in 2016 thanks to vaping, after smoking 1.5 packs a day for 17 years. Since then, my health has recovered tremendously. I have also built a solid collection of mods and atomizers. Now that I feel informed enough to review something, I want to give back something useful to this community that gave me so much valuable information when I started out. I’m going to review everything from a non- professional user standpoint. There is enough shilling out there. Unless stated otherwise, I bought most of my reviewed products so I’m not going to let anything but the test of time and ease of use determine the outcome of my review. I’ll give you my honest thoughts, whether you like them or not. Also see my Blog where I keep track of all my Reviews.
