Never thought that I would make one day not smoking let alone a year! But last year I faced a crises. My beautiful, smarty pants daughter and only child, put a gun to my head when I asked her what she wanted as a gift for her MBA which she was getting in May: my quitting smoking. It was already the middle of April. How does one break a lifelong habit of 1.5 packs/day of Marlboro Reds? I even tried bribing her with a new car, but not luck.
We had lost my beautiful wife 2 years earlier to a freakish and rare form of cancer, and she did not want to lose me as well.
I began to have thoughts about steps that I could take and had visions of myself being chained in my basement like some werewolf at the full moon or perhaps sent to one of those camps for addictive recovery with some 250 lb female gorilla with overactive hormones ready to strip and sexually assault me at my only thinking about a cigarette. I never believed that a woman's mammaries could cause nightmares, but encountering anything that large could become a life threatening experience, especially if unfettered and allowed to bounce freely. It took months of special therapy with this cute psychologist whose dimensions were more moderate and far more pleasing to rid myself of that image.
A friend recommended e cigs, so I went on line and typed in "reviews of electronic cigarettes", and after much searching came up with Greensmoke. They worked OK but were ridiculously overpriced, and the batteries, as with all cigarette lookalikes, did not last very long. They also tasted strange but satisfied my craving. Eventually, I stumbled onto ECF, and was able to learn a tremendous amount that saved me a lot of time and frustration.
I have dealt with a number of suppliers and found most of them quick to respond to issues-even the Chinese exporters. There was one exception and that is Vaprlife with their joke of a product, the Joker AV. It was the worst experience dealing with a DOA product, a snotty and non responsive CS, and a ludicrous return policy.
Now I DIY juices and have a variety of PV's: Screwdriver, Buzz, ProVari, ePower, RoughStack, Icon, DSE905, and Indulgence. I have given up on Ego's and Rivas: just too many failures and will only buy PV's with replaceable batteries and parts, especially switches. I don't like to drip, and cartos have given me too many issues. I am into the fruit style juices now and have not used any tobacco flavors for months. Sometimes I use HV, sometimes just 3.7. Strange: in +3 decades of smoking, I never had any inlcination to change brands; now I am constantly tinkering with new flavors and will vape several different types even on the same day.
Anyway, that's my story and I am sticking to it. Thanks to all of you who have helped me on this journey.
