The Starfire VVs that jfoster is considering from ecigcharleston are, in fact, rebranded Young-June v1.5t Vtubes (not from Knight-Rider, despite what the description says). That version has been available for quite some time from numerous other sellers (vaporbeast, ivape, etc.) under different rebranded names (Vector Variable Volt, Varitube X, etc.), and for roughly the same price.
The device that hificat mentioned from crystalclearvaping is the new version from Young-June---the Chrome v2.0---which has an increased 3.9 amp limit, an eGo-style top connector, and a much heavier triple-chrome-plating-over-brass body (loaded with a battery, the Chrome v2.0 weighs in at a whopping 5.2 ounces, versus the v1.5t's more nimble 3.3 ounces).
The earlier v1.5t's suffered from the 5-click power-off zombie-low-voltage-mode glitch, where the unit would still fire at low voltage after supposedly having been powered down. Young-June has fixed that glitch in the v2.0 and current production runs of the v1.5t, so the Starfire VV's may not have it, but the Chrome v2.0 definitely doesn't. I know for sure, because I own both versions, and my newer Chrome v2.0 does indeed power down properly and truly shut off.
Finally, the buttons (actually, switch covers) on the v1.5t rattle a bit when you shake the unit, whereas the Chrome v2.0 buttons are rock-solid and silent even when shaken. The buttons on the v1.5t work fine, so no worries, but Young-June did something to tighten up the production specs of the v2.0---either the buttons are attached to the switches or the mounting holes are more precisely machined---which is a good sign that Young-June is paying attention and improving/refining their Vtubes with each successive version.
I like both versions. I appreciate the heavy solidness of the shiny Chrome v2.0, but I also like the light weight and finish feel of my black v1.5t Vtubes. Both provide a satisfying vape, although the v2.0 has more 1/4 more power and provides greater headroom for low-resistance 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos, which I no longer use anyway.
