A few questions for you.

1. Are you new to mech mods and rebuildables?
2. Have you read up on battery safety?
3. Are you familiar with Ohms Law and understand how continuous Amp draw fits into the whole equation?
4. Do you own a quality charger and an ohm reader or DMM (and know how to use it)?

If not, you have a lot of reading to do BEFORE you start using your mech mod and get into rebuilding. The good news, we can help point you in the right direction.:)

Yup . . . From a vaping safety standpoint, there's lot n lots to read and understand.

From an aesthetic point of view, there are lot n lots of choices.

First off welcome to ECF, glad you are here! Please dont take this the wrong way but from one vaping newbie to another a mechanical mod isnt the best option to start off with, they can be flat-out dangerous. I work with a guy that wanted to start vaping and just had to have a mechanical mod to start with against my better judgement, he bought a clone black panzer mech mod and a black omega dripper from a shop in Nashville. They simply threw two coils and a couple of pieces of silica wick and sent him on his way. As soon as he pulled the top off of his dripper to show me I knew he had a problem with the build and told him so. He asked for help and luckily I had all my build supplies with me and was able to re-build it on our lunch break, this was literally yesterday.

We work together all day so today I was able to explain the downfalls of what they sent him home with and how easily it could have went south on him and proceeded to show him a few pictures as proof. No matter what you choose there is a level of maintenance involved with vaping even if its just changing out coils.

With all of this being said its not crazy hard but does take some patience and understanding of coils, ohms, correct batteries and maintenance to be safe. You will also need some supplies and tools in order to build them yourself. Ive only been vaping around 50 days but I read, read, and read some more. Your best bet is to start off with a regulated device such as a Spinner,MVP etc as they are easy to use and could always be used as back-ups if you want to go with a mech mod and re-buildable drippers later on. Happy Vaping!

I agree with shatteredsoul76; however, if you are dead set on using a mech mod, but would like the safety of a regulated device, for around $10-15 you could get a fuse that goes into the mod tube with the battery. They are made in a number of different sizes to fit different diameter batteries as well as different 'trip' levels, depending on how much power you plan to be putting through to the atty you'll be using. Any of the bigger online retailers of mods should stock them, or ask about it at your local vape shop. This combo doesn't offer the same level of control that a dedicated regulated device does, but it will allow you to vape safely with the option of removing it at a later date when you are experienced enough and feel safe vaping without it.
Good luck, enjoy, and VAPE ON!!

Thats true revm, but a kick wont fit in some mech mod tubes and you are still pretty much forced to build your own coils and add a wick to them for the best performance, not the best option for a newbie to vaping and especially not the easiest for someone wanting to stop smoking. For me I wanted/needed to finally quit smoking and simply needed something easy to use and reliable.

I guess at this point I have back-ups for back-ups so Im never without a device to deliver my needed nicotine so I just got my first mechanical mod just to try. The vape is so warm that if I started there to begin with I would have stopped vaping and been right back to smoking, Im still fiddling around with different coil builds until I get it right, YMMV.
