I have made nano micro coil my first one after watching rip trippers video. Its really great but should I maybe use a higher gauge wire so I dont get such a harsh hit? Im very new at rebuilding but I want to do it right. I built this coil with 28 gauge kanthal organic cotton and im using 18mg 40/60 blend e juice on a vv. What should I maybe set the vv at? If I do less wraps will it not be as harsh of a hit? Its 1.3ohm coil. Any and all suggestions and help is welcomed and needed.
Thanks

I use 30 gauge kanthal with 6 wraps on a allen key that just fits into the head groove and get 1.4 ohms. It produces a great vape that can be vaped on any PV. I use to use 32 kanthal but with all the rewicking the 32 would distort, bend and just plain become unmanageable. The 30 gauge builds last better in the long run being a thicker wire and I've had a couple 28 gauge builds just short out for no reason so I rarely use 28 in my protank builds. I'm not making microcoils but just regular spaced wrap coils.

Hi Jamie

Is your harshness related to "throat hit" or is more like a burnt taste (dry hit)?

I usually keep my Protank coils at 1.8ohm or higher (I like a cooler vape) Here is another Rip Trippers video on Mini Protank Micro Coil Rebuild

Yea it more of a throat hit than it usually was on the original coil. What gauge wire do u use for 1.8 and or how many wraps are the key this one is about 10-11 wraps. Ill check that video for sure.

On a 1.3 ohm coil I'd start out at around 3.2-3.4 volts & I would definitely use thinner juice. I think as of late the standard is 70/30 pg/vg. 60% vg would probably have a hard time wicking on a nano coil.

Thanks I took that down to 3.2 that helped alot!
What wpuld ur suggestion be for my next build? Should I stay at 1.3 or try to go to like 1.8? If I go up in ohms would I just need to do les wraps and not as tight together?

Ive done my homework on builds trust me but every video I have seen is either a build for 2.0 ohms or the 1.3 or a lil less. So from my understanding if I did like 8-9 wraps instead of 10-11?

To obtain higher ohms you will either need more wraps or a higher gauge wire. When I re-coil my ego style tanks I use 32 gauge kanthal.

I am not sure if I can fit more wraps in the space that I am working with. I have 100ft of 28 gauge so more ohms higher gauge wire.
Yes. That's why I use 32 gauge wire. 32 gauge wire will require less length to reach higher ohms.

To get a 1.8 ohm coil using 28 gauge you will need to use almost 4 inches of kanthal in your coil whereas 32 gauge only requires 1 and half inches.

Exactly this for me too. However I use Peaches and Cream cotton yarn for wicks as they fit the Protank perfectly with no need for a "Flavor Wick".

Peaches and Cream cotton? That is a new one, because i like the flavor that i get from cotton but the 1.3 coil that is in there is buring the cotton up i have to change the cotton twice since i made this coil friday! Any suggestions?
