Greetings.

So, after a couple of weeks on my 901, I decided that I love vaping, but felt like I needed a little extra kick if I am to completely eliminate analog smoking.

The 901 is pretty good, not knocking it. I just find that it doesn't completely satisfy my craving for analogs and I have to swap out the batteries often. Still, I have reduced my analog consumption over 50% immediately upon using my first e-cig which was this 901.

There was a good deal at liberty-flights.com with an additional 20% off of the discount, so ordered up a starter EGO kit in black and a few bottles of 5cc 18mg nic tobacco flavored juices to try from them.

Hope I made the right choice and that the EGO delivers on my expectations. Based on the reviews I believe so!

In the meanwhile, I ordered a USB passthrough for the 901 and a few different juices from rockymountainvapor. I'll give it a shot and if I am happy with the EGO will pass the 901 on to my girlfriend.

Any thoughts on how to get the most of my 901? I really look for a strong throat hit (that's what she said?) over vapor production, but 18mg nic is pretty much the max on what I am willing to use. I have direct dripped, refilled carts, topped off and all three at once lol. It's not bad, but like I said, I just need a bit more *punch* when I inhale.

Also, how are the shipping times with liberty-flights.com when ordering from the USA? I ordered on Jan. 23.

Rockymountainvapor.com as been excellent for me. Answered all my questions promptly and in detail, and every order I placed with them (three) were shipped within 24-48 hours and arrived in three days to New York.

Sometimes to get "more" you need to really move up in battery size and to 3.7 volt units and upward.
More power....typically more "punch". With a larger battery unit you could also use LR cartos
or attys which also can give you more "punch".

I'm not sure of your units battery power but if they are in the same or close range, you
might not have much of a change.

With that said, glad to have you here and hope all goes well!

Thanks Texas.

I should have specified that i am stepping up from a dse 901 to the JOYE eGo. Looks to me like it should make a difference for that "kick" I desire.

Thanks for the reply and happy vaping.

Getting really good vape tonight with my dse 901 actually. I filled a cart with a combo of flue cured tobacco (18mg) and dunhill (11mg) from rockymountainvapor.com

Funny enough the bottles when they arrived were labeled as "Flu Cured" and "Deluxe Tobacco" respectively. Flu Cured. Hah! Eww and hey if I'm cured of the flu, not too bad then. :)

I also have a 10ml of Dr. Pepper which arrived labeled simply as "Pepper" LOL

Must be TM related and this stuff comes from China probably. Oh great (bird) Flu and China in the sentence...not usually a good thing?

So basicaly, what they advertize on the site is not what is printed on all the 10ml bottles you get from rmv. Just a minor issue really, but was quite pleased that I did not smoke PEPPER! :p

I found the Dr. Pepper to taste nice as a topoff but quite harsh and unpleasant as a direct drip. Same for most of the "sweet" liquids like vanilla from rockymountainvapor. The tobacco flavors on the other hand are quite nice dripped, filled and topped up. Just ordered several other tobacco varieties from rmv. The coffee is a little better dripped than the sweet ones, but not as pleasant as the tobacco varieties I have tried.

Looking forward to my eGO. Hope it ships soon and arrives by the weekend! Anyone order from here and how are the juices from there? I ordered two PG and two VG 5ml 18mg tobacco varieties and the eGO starter kit for a toal of $52.25 including shipping. Again, from liberty-flights.com

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

I got my brother a dse 901 for his birthday yesterday from rmv. As usual, excellent turn around time, and e-maol questions answered quickly and in detail with a friendly touch. He is happy with it.

Also ordered a USB passthrough for the dse 901 to see if that helps with the "kick".

Don't want to spend a fortune experimenting on these devices, but I figure that for now it is worth it to find the "keeper" and it will pay for itself in a very short time considering a pack of analogs cost 12 bucks where I live. I used alternate methods and saved on that of course, but it is getting increasingly difficult to ship analogs in my state and people are getting slammed with tax bills.

OK..this ended up much longer than I expected...but I love this whole vaping business and am real excited that this may really get me off analogs for good! Then I can post a counter to track my savings.

For more kick to 901 - best would be to get a Riva 901 (the fat battery version of 901 - and since it has more power available it can use the LR low resistance parts)

If you want to stick with the slim batteries for 901 - if you are willing to go a bit longer for longer battery life then get standard or even xl KR808D-1 batteries (aka Vapor King at Vapor4Life) (but it is possible neither will fit in a 901 PCC). If you have auto batteries try manual for more control over your hit (but manuals don't fit in the cig-pack look 901 PCC). Try to find some non-LR cartomizers for 901 (because the LR ones are for the fat battery Riva 901) - I think cartos might give a more concentrated drag and the vapor is usually warmer because the atty is closer to your lips. 901 cartos are not that easy to find. You can also get a 901 to KR8 adapter which will provide the air access needed by KR808D-1 cartos (that's all the adapter is needed for since the threads are the same) and you can get prefilled cartos at Vapor4Life and blanks there or elsewhere.

Re punch when you inhale on anything - I think manual batteries so you are not dragging air to get it started. Then use the button a bit earlier than your drag so you are dragging when the vapor is best. press in (and 1/2-1 second later) start dragging (and before your drag ends) let up button (then continue to drag for a second or so to get the remainder of already-made vapor)

Also once all of the vapor is in my mouth, I do a quick hard inhale. Sometimes I precede the inhale with a tiny exhale that pops the vapor a bit out of my mouth, then the hard drag in. And periodically I make sure my nose gets some of the vapor because aroma is a huge part of taste (and if a juice isn't salty, sweet, bitter, sour or savory which are all the tongue can sense, then aroma is all of taste)

I also find a nice swallow of a cool beverage seems to make the next hit better. A swallow of hot liquid seems to do the opposite.

Also - juices with no more than 30% vg (or less to let even more TH through at the cost of visible vapor). Juices with flavors that add throat sensation (mints, menthols, juices with cinnamon and other spices like ginger or nutmeg, some liquor flavor ejuices, etc) all add a bit of their own throat sensation on the way in.

LF juices are decent. I have tried the Septwolf and Black Clove. Not sure I like either one all that much. Not to say they are "bad" but not my thing. I love their Grape PG though and Spearmint is not bad either.

Out of the tobacco flavors I have tried, I enjoy Maxboro, Wyatt Erp, and RY4 from FreedomSmokeUSA, all three are pretty good.

Currently waiting on some Applewood Tobacco from Backwoods Brew to see how that is.

Grats on getting going on this, and welcome to ECF!

Hi nin, your story is mine as well. Am relying on my DSE 901 until I receive my eGo which should be tomorrow or the next day. I have 2 of these 901's and am constantly recharging one while using the other. Have already cut way down on the analogs but I, like you know that I have been needing a v/p that will be better if I am truly to give up the cigs once and for all. I ordered stronger juice from Awesome Vapor and will be getting that in the next few days as well. I ordered the RY4 and Cappuccino in 18 mg. I will be commenting on how that goes for me and you do the same.

The eGo is a good starter PV and will give you longer battery time and a little better throat hit also because the battery will stay at a higher charge level for longer. I also agree with manual batteries over auto's as being much better overall. But instead of trying to learn some new way to vape, the best throat hit comes with more power. So if the eGo still seems a little light to you, then move up to a good 5 volt PV such as the GLV2, from Great Lakes Vapor or a good variable volt PV.

And on the tobacco flavors from Liberty Flights, "Home Counties" is the best, smoothest tobacco flavor I have tried.

From what I have read, the ego and dse 901 have a similar voltage of 3.3 or so. The ego will maintain that voltage for a longer period of time due to the larger battery. The 901 atomizers seem to give a better vaping experience though.

It is all relative... I would suggest finding a battery solution you prefer, then getting adapters to try the different atomizers. Once you know what you like, you can buy or build the personal vaporizer that fits you best.

Thanks for the replies all. I do use manual batteries on the dse 901. Definitely prefer manual batteries. The button pushing does not bother me at all.

Will keep you posted on my experiences sickofanalogs. I am sick of them too but still find myself reaching for several a day. But jeez to go from a pack a day to like 4-6 a day is phenomenal for me. Could never do that without vaping.

It's funny..some sessions I have great experiences with my 901 and other times it is just "meh". I am awaiting a manual USB passthrough battery and thinking that may make things more consistent. Also been trying different inhalation methods and juice filling methods. Been having funny mental images of vaping while connected to my mac book pro and a thunderstorm rolling in. Probably not the wisest thing to have an electrical device in your mouth at that time lolol. Also, does it get any dorkier than puffing away plugged in? ;) Don't really care about the dork factor, would be vaping alone under the covers for the times I use the passthrough at night.

Looking forward to checking out the eGO and some different juices. Not much to lose because if I love the eGO I can donate my dse 901 to my friend. If it is on par or just slightly more to my expectations (probably most likely scenario), well, I can donate my dse 901 to my friend. ;) I am hoping that the eGO just gives me that little bit extra oomph and consistency. I believe that it will based on reviews.

Spending the money now experimenting will pay off down the road, but I do not want to get carried away. I realize that there will be a curve until we find what works best for us newbies.

The juices I have coming from LF are:

5ML - PG - Tobaccos Churchill - High - 18MG
5ML - PG - Tobaccos Home Counties - High - 18MG
5ML - VG - Tobaccos VG Hotel (Tobacco) - Medium - 14MG
5ML - VG - Tobaccos VG USA Mix (Tobacco) - High - 18MG

So, two PG and two VG tobaccos. 18mg does it for me and 11mg will get me by too. From my experiences with rockymountainvapor that is. Have not had better turnaround times and CS than through that company, but have to admit LF has a more impressive site with detailed descriptions and reviews. Have to e-mail RMV but to their credit they do reply quickly to all inquiries.

I ordered on Jan. 23 which was a Sunday. No dispatch e-mail yet and account page not updated past "checked out" I used pay pal. Got the 20% discount on entire purchase on top of the already discounted eGO starter kit @ $49.99. So entire order was just over 52 bucks.

I got my ego 2 weeks ago, love it, from LF also. Started vaping on an overpriced auto unit. The ego batteries last all day and charge super quick. Not a fan of the carts and can't drip and drive so I got some Boge LR cartomizers. Nice warm vapor and great throat hit on 24mg juice. Of course now I'm think I want a Variable Voltage unit; got to wait on that or my wife will go balistic on me:)

@ sickofanalogs and all:

Got the eGO today from L-F. First impression: I may never need an analog again!

This very well may be just what I needed! Much more vapor than my DSE 901 mini. Now, I should ease off my initial excitement, I only took a few drags off of a pre-filled filled starter kit cart..not much on flavor there..but the vapor production is fantastic and a mild to moderate throat hit. I can't tell how much nic is in the cart. There is some writing on the celo wrapping and the box, but not sure if they packed a variety of nics and one zero like some do. I will have to re-check the info on that. I will be re-filling these carts with my other juices that I like. In fact I may ditch one of the pre-filled carts without vaping it and immediately re-fill with my own juice. I also got 4 5cc juices from L-F..all tobacco flavors and 18 mg. Two are PG and two VG. I wasn't crazy about the aroma...very strong nutty smelling. Not horrible, but I hope they taste better than they smell. I will sample them in my DSE 901 before I use it in the eGO most likely..unless I direct drip. The booklet says to put a few drops in the atomizer before you use the eGO. I had read elsewhere on the forum that this was to burn off the factory filler. So I just dropped some of my other juice in it and puffed it away without inhaling. The kit came fully assembled and ready to vape. I have the other battery charging on a USB.

I will update further when I break in a little more. It still tastes a tad unpleasant..like that factory taste. I'm sure in no time the better flavors will come through.

Please keep me posted on your experience with the eGo and anyone else please chime in with opinions and ideas to get the most out of it. Juice recommendations also appreciated. I have mainly been using a variety of juices from rockymountainvapor.com and am pleased with them all. Especially the flue cured tobacco (18mg), vanilla (11mg), and coffee(18mg).

@wv2win: I did try a 5cc vial of Home Counties (18mg) PG from L-F. Looking forward to trying it.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies.

Good morning nin and everyone! Yes I got my eGo and boy is it wonderful. I cannot believe how easy it's been to get off the cigs since using this thing! Can you believe it? I've only ever had the mini 901 v/p and it was not anything like this. The first puff I took was unreal. The vapor it produces was something else. I am dripping with it and use 3 drops at a time, usually gets me around 6 hits per drip. I am sticking pretty much to the 18 mg nicotine but alternate between that and 24 mg. For the past day I've been ordering juices and so far my favorites have been the Ry4 from Awesome Vapor and blueberry cheesecake from Ms T's bakery (am almost out of it because I only ordered a 5 ml bottle). Nin are you going to stick to dripping? The vendor sent me some cartos that have a white rubber tip on them, I took it off and filled the cart up but didn't like it because I couldn't get it to let go of that burnt chemical taste... This is something that I'm going to have to ask for help on but I'm happy for now to just drip. My 901 minis cannot hold a candle to this thing but I'm keeping them for back-ups. Since you were pretty pleased with rockymountain vapor, I think they will be my next try. The coffee and vanilla sounds good to me. I like all coffee flavors and need to find me a really good tobacco flavored juice. I love Ry4 still and vape it most often. I took advantage of the 50% off sale at voidmist yesterday and ordered Keoke Coffee Lemon Mist, Newton's Apple Mist and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Mist. Gosh, the entire order (15 ml bottles @ 18 mg strength came to only 16 bucks and change including shipping! I'll let you all know how I like these after I get them and try them. We are blessed nin to have the eGo and get off those cigs. I've not had a real cig since 2 days ago. Don't have the desire at all. It's crazy that one can smoke 2 packs a day for over 25 years and go from that to none.

It's good to hear you have a better PV! Bigger batteries make a big difference. Wait until you try a good 5 volt or variable volt PV - they are even better.

On filling the cartomizer, initially, the best way to do it, is fill the rubber cap (the one without the plug) about half way up, then press the cartomizer (white plug side down) slowly into the the liquid in the cap until it starts bubbling out of the threaded end. Then pull the white plug out of the mouth end and use a drip tip to put 4-5 more drops in when needed.

On a good tobacco e-liquid, my favorite is Liberty Flights "Home Counties". It's the smoothest tobacco flavor I have found.
