Ordered some gear, looking for advice, battery safety worries

Excellent! That is a very nice looking mod. And the drip tip is seriously cool. Did it come with the mod? It appears to match. I had not thought, living in Texas as I do, that a metallic drip tip might not be a good idea for somebody who lived in Switzerland, but now I think on it I begin to see the wisdom :) +1 to @speedy_r6 there's probably some kind of adjustment for the center pin. Most of them are spring loaded, but not all. Even if it is, it could be stuck too. Did you get an owner's manual? It might say.

Thanks @speedy_r6, it does have an adjustable center pin, a little phillips type screw head. I've screwed the screw as far down as it goes but am still missing something around 5mm :( @suprtrkr It is a very nice looking/feeling mod. I only had the stainless, wide bore drip tip that came with the Subtank and wanted something less... Metal... Tapped my teeth with it once and that was it. So I went to the only B&M that I know of in Zurich, Werner's Headshop to see what drip tips they have that fit my Subtank. They have a box full of ziplock bags with a surprisingly large selection of drip tips, found the wooden ones in one of the bags and realized they are all different types of wood with different style grains and one of the tips matched so well I just had to have it. :D Really good match eh?

Only trouble I'm having, is with slight crackling and spitting, still trying to figure out what needs to be changed and or adjusted to get rid of that. I've experienced it with both The 0.5 and the 1.2 OCC coils and seems not to make a huge difference what wattage I'm running either. Primed and waited for the wick to really be saturated before firing... I've dialed it so it's OK but getting juice in mouth during every third drag is very frustrating.

I am not a subtank expert, so I'll let one of them get back to you on the spitting issue. A trick I learned just yesterday is to go to a tobacconist and buy a small bag of pipe screens-- that should be several decades supply-- and use a standard hole punch to make a tiny, round screen. Remove the drip tip, drop it into the hole, and replace the drip tip. This should stop-- or at least attenuate-- hot juice pops from the coil flying up the drip tip, although if there's enough juice on the deck you can suck it up when you take a drag it wouldn't help that. Another option-- you won't like it with your beautiful matching tip, of course-- is to get rid of the straight drip tip in favor of a knuckle one that bends to the side. Does the flooding happen all the time, or only right after filling and then go away?

Thanks so much for the tips. The pipe screen is a good idea! I must give that a whirl. I also own a knuckle drip tip that you're describing, which works well but interestingly enough it's only a matter of time before I get a shot of juice in mouth, no matter what tip I'm using...

I guess I am weird. I love it when some of the juice pops off the coil and all the way to my mouth. It gives it that little extra kick. It is like BAM, and knocks the flavor up a notch. Does anyone else share this feeling?

I can see where you're coming from and if I'm drunk I tend to have an urge for one of those BAM hits, I must admit. On an ordinary day I'd like to keep it to a minimum though :p

Scary as hell!! My criteria was to have a wood bodied mod, looked through some shops that were recommended to me that ship to Switzerland and found this really jazzy looking Smokjoy and went for it. Maybe I should of waited and asked for some advice on here first. I have some electrical engineer friends, would it be a possibility to take the bad boy apart and replace the batteries with something safer??

Odds are you won't have any issues, and all will work fine.
Before a battery will blow up, it will heat up and I'm sure you would notice the difference in temperature.
In this case, throw and yell, MOD IN THE HOLE!!

I've fixed the sputtering juice that kept popping into my mouth. I took the Kangertech Subtank Mini RBA head off and apart, then I took some juice from the wick using a paper towel. Did this on both sides and screwed everything together, stopping the louder popping as apposed to the slight sizzle. :D Very pleased with the vape. Thinking another tank would be useful, might go for the Subtank mini starter kit, get a mod to go with it for "$20"

Sound plan. And that's a nice mod. Oh, not as nice as the one you just bought, but handy for work and such. You know the Subox mod needs a battery, right? I don't know where to tell you to buy them across the pond, but Samsung 25Rs are about perfect for that one.
