Organic flavoring less flavorful?

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone has experience with Natures Flavors organic flavoring? I recently purchased honeydew and made the following recipe:

7.5ml VG with 12mg nicotine
4.5ml NF Organic honeydew flavoring
18 ml Organic VG

I noticed when I used honeydew concentrate from Wizard Labs, it was much sweeter and I only used 10% for flavoring versus 15% Organic flavoring. My question is, does anyone know if I need to add more flavoring? Do the people who use organic flavoring usually add more flavoring if your are not using any sweetener?

Thanks in advance.:)

In my experience it just varies from brand to brand.
Flavor West doesn't claim to be organic but most people say to start at 15-20 %. It depends on how dead your taste buds are too.
I used to buy juice from someone who only used Natures Flavors. They were very good after steeping for about a week.
You just have to experiment and see what works for you.

I've only had one organic e-liquid and it was a completed juice (not a flavoring) from Virgin Vapors. All 3 of the ones I tried were very weak. I don't know if this helps you at all but figured I'd share my experience.

Actually I'm trying to replicate the Virgin Vapors Celestial Honey Dew.

The only flavor I have from NF is Malt. It's extremely potent. It's good, but anything past 1% is cloying. I have no idea if this is representative of the rest of their lineup.

Is it Organic Malt?

In my experience it just varies from brand to brand.

I'll try 20%. Thanks.

That's the only honeydew I've had, and I remember it surprised me because I tried it when I got it and again few week later and never like it, and then tried it over a month after getting it and loved it. At first it was basically flavorless, though admittedly it was only about a month or two of not smoking when I bought it, so maybe some taste bud repair still going on?

So can't say it was the long wait in the dark that made it pop, but I sucked down the remainder of the sample in a day it was so delicious whereas before it was total blah. Maybe natural honeydew flavor takes more time to shine in a heavy VG solution, since it's not a strong flavor to start with? Just guessing here, if you don't want any PG maybe an alcohol based flavor would be stronger than a water based one.

I'm a really big fan of honey dew juice and Virgin Vapors is the best one I've had so far.
Are all non organic flavorings alcohol based? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm a noob at DIY juice.

Thanks.

My understanding is that the Organic flavors from Nature's Flavors are actually MORE concentrated than their non-organics. This is from the NF Organic main page on HDV's website.... "Nature's Flavor's Organic Flavor Extracts are pure Water Soluble Flavors. Flavor Extracts are in an alcohol base and will affect the freezing point of any application that you put them into, concentrates will not. Usage for these Flavors should start at under 0.5% and slowly work up to 4% maximum." I guess I soon shall find out, I was about to mix up a straight flavor of NF Organic Blueberry Cheesecake just to test out the flavor and was about to batch it up at 15% until I decided to read the main page for the flavorings. Seems crazy that all NF organics should be used at a 4% maximum, so I went ahead and mixed up this batch at 3%. The juice sure smells strong. Ill let it steep a few days and see what's up.

When I first tried NF Organics Carrot Cake I used 15%. Letting it sit uncapped to evaporate alcohol helped, but I still didn't like it and it sat for months before I used it. The next time I mixed it I started about 3%, and got much better results. My notes say 4% tasted best. I had the same experience with their Peppermint and Ginger flavors. Like CountryTime said above, try 3-4% first. At least the alcohol will evaporate a whole lot faster.
