I ordered an EHPRO Origin clone and hcigar Aqua clone. From what I've read about the HCIGAR version of the Aqua requires some alterations to be made (drilling for air holes) for best performance. I will follow the youtube tutorial on this when I get the aqua. The aqua also comes with a hybrid adapter for the Origin. I also purchased Origin switch magnets and two Sony US18650VTC4 2100mAh 30A flat top batteries.

What does running in hybrid mean and how is it beneficial (as opposed to not running in hybrid)?
Can I fit an 18650 and a kick inside the Origin? Or do I need an 18500 for this? Flat top or button top for the Origin mod, does it matter?

And lastly a question about the batteries I ordered, here are the specs:

  • Nominal Capcity: 2100 mAh
  • Rated Capaciity: 2000 mAh
  • Nominal voltage: 3.7v
  • Voltage after a fresh charge: 4.2 +/- .05v
  • Do not discharge this battery below: 2.5v
  • Maximum charge voltage: 4.25
  • Continuous Maximum Charge Current: 10 amps
  • Continuous Maximum Discharge Current: 30 amps

So when fully charged these are 4.2V correct? And that is the number I should use for voltage in ohms law? What does the 3.7 nominal voltage represent?

And lastly I know over discharging is bad. Other than taking a multimeter to the battery, how will I know when my battery needs to be removed and recharged? And what is the lowest voltage of the battery I can run on before its time to remove and recharge?

Thanks

It eliminates the 510 connection so in theory you should have less voltage drop.

None of this I can answer as I don't have an origin.

4.2 is correct. Use that when calculating with ohms law. Your battery will drop from 4.2 all the way down to it's safe level of 3.2. 3.7 is in the middle of the two hence the "nominal" voltage.

And lastly I know over discharging is bad. Other than taking a multimeter to the battery, how will I know when my battery needs to be removed and recharged? And what is the lowest voltage of the battery I can run on before its time to remove and recharge?

You will know when it's time to change the battery. The worst thing about mechs is the voltage drop. You will notice as your battery starts dropping.
Thanks

Hybrid Connection (aqua to origin specifically): The Origin mod can be used in 510 mode using the 510 threaded top cap. The aqua also can fit to this 510 connection if the aqua also has it's 510 adapter screwed on (bottom of the unit). If you remove the top cap from the origin and the 510 adapter from the aqua, you will notice the aqua will thread directly to the tube of the origin. These are an M20 x 0.5 thread mate.

Now you may be wondering how that long brass pin with the slotted head works into all this. That unscrews from the aqua and will need to be replaced by the wider flat positive pin (looks like a thumbtack with a threaded shank) before you thread the aqua to the origin tube . All thats left, is to remove the bottom cap/button assembly, insert your battery, and adjust the delrin spacer for battery slop, and your firing pin for throw. (I suggest looking up proper set-up techniques for your mod. I had an origin clone whose firing pin rattled into firing position while in a case once, melted everything to hell and gone. This was due to my lack of attention to my setup.)
