I met a girl who had a picture of her kissing a CFL. I asked her why she was kissing a mercury filled lightbulb? She says "cuz I love the enviroment".

They have no freakin clue what their crap ideals are doing to the planet. There is no such thing as a valid arguement anymore.

Great post. I have had literally the same rant with people.

CFLs are a horror story!

Fortunately, there's new technology in the wings (I forget the acronym) which is more energy efficient, more durable, and easier on the environment.

In the meantime, I buy an extra pack of bulbs just about every time I go to Wal-Mart. I currently have two large boxes of each flavor (100W, 60W, and 40w). I don't think I'll ever use them all up, but they could become a great black market commodity in years to come.

maybe I will just fire up my emergency oil lamps and have done with it!

That's another thing I've stockpiled -- in the spring, Wal-Mart usually marks down the oil, so I grab an extra bottle here and there. Been doing it a few years, so almost 20 gallons are now sitting in the basement along with dozens of extra wicks.

It makes no sense for the Gov. to FORCE us to buy an inferior product..even dangerous. Where are "OH my God..it's for the Children's sake" people? I am sick of being nannied to death!
They said in another artical that by the end of the year 100 watt will be gone..then the 75's. One artical said the price will be upwards of 50.00 for a bulb. This is along with the slash in medicare, medicaide and Military retirement. The choice becomes..eat, get meds or sit in the dark.
I want Gov. insanity to stop..we need to vote them out AGAIN!

MK, is it that hard to believe? They want us to by cigarettes instead of vaping...

Your comment is why I finally stopped to view the vid, plus it's not late-night and I won''t wake anyone now. lol
All I can say is WOW! and Coolcart too! Just love it @4:08 "these are made in CHINA!"
I'll be checking the house to see how many of these may be here.
Maybe there's a swap thread on some light-bulb forum.

 OMG...We use those! Geezzz, I knew they were dangerous if you break one, but I didn't realize how dangerous. I will not be buying anymore of these! Thanks for posting this. I'm going to start stock piling, too! :thumb:
they enforced a ban on thermometers years ago that contain mercury due to hazards then they create a law that effectively bans lightbulbs that are safer for what? light bulbs that contain as much or more mercury than the "old" thermometers they complained about. while i agree mercury thermometers needed to go away, why reintroduce the same hazardous material in something that will be even more commonplace in homes and more dangerous since a lot of the mercury will be in a powered form that will "leak" back into the ground in landfills? treehuggers are killing themselves in the name of saving the environment...to quote Forrest Gump "Stupid is as Stupid does" sigh...
