Was out front of my store watering plants, and out in the parking lot I heard the distictive 'hound' bark coming from the half open window. I saw what looked like a large hound, but didn't know what it was.
When i saw the owner putting plants in this truck i had to go over and see what kind of dog it was.
Nice owner, told me it was a 'Plott Hound', a bear hunting dog. Big teeth on this dawg, and according to this site, Plott Hound - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , the State dog of North Carolina. I just love dogs...

I met one of these dogs while walking when we lived in St. Cloud (fl). he charged me and scared me..but I decided to try to pet him. He was my walking buddy from then on. I lived in a rural area on a dirt road. He walked about a block and went home..on my way back he walked me to my yard. He charged everything like a big puppy.

I used to live next door to a pair of Wheatons when I lived in KY - beautiful dogs, ugly owners - the kind of people who should never be allowed to have pets. One of them escaped and attacked my Yorkie but before I could get out the door to break it up my cat jumped off a 2nd story balcony to protect his "little sis" and raked the Wheaton's nose bloody :( She had to have stitches to close a gash on her leg but "big bro" was fine! He was a puffball of a cat and I never knew he could move that quickly! I later learned they bought the Wheatons for their uniqueness, a dog no one else had, and then pretty much ignored them <sigh> Pets are interactive - at least mine were! Why have them if you don't care for them, right?

I no longer have pets because we travel too much and that's unfair to the animal but I do miss them...very much so!
