I would like to know if anyone else thinks that this is outragous or is this normal shipping charges from china supplier? I am just getting started and this is my first order.

Thanks for your order, we have received 582.90 USD at 6th April, Thanks!
Please confirm your shipment cost before we put your order under further processing, your order total weight is 11 kg = 28.03 + 21 x 5.9 + 22.13 (DHL remote area fee) = 174.06 USD + 5% = 182.76 USD.
If you are agree with this shipment cost, please pay this total 182.76

Please Help,
Thanks

Yes, that seems acurate! That is one thing customers don't always realize, is that the cost of shipping is enormous and has to be figured into the sale price in order to make out on top.
You may also be supprised if you use a supplier in China that lists the contents and Value like mine does. It means you additionally have to pay Duty & Tax on the items! A lot of suppliers will send you stuff without this, reducing the cost to just shipping by saying in the customs forms,
"1 - Personal Vaporizer worth $20.00" when it is actually 30 or 40 Starter Kits!
I finally figured out why they do this (Most of them anyway):
They figure if they can avoid declaring the actual value and contents of the items it will save the reseller or end user enough money to justify ordering from them instead of a competitor who does it the correct way!
They are right of course, as it does save you quite a bit of money!
However, this is illegal and violates customs laws!!!
If you are getting products listed as gifts or $20.00 values or incorrect descriptions, you are asking for trouble! If your shipment should happen to be inspected at customs there will be hell to pay. You might not even get your stuff, and if you do, you will have to declare it and pay the Duty & Tax like every other business that is on the up & up does.
I pay quite a bit more to do it this way, and it does affect my sales price and profit margins.
However, this business has enough worries already without worrying about what Customs may do to me because my supplier lies on the customs forms.
So just some friendly advise if you are just starting out.
If you would like any information about the few suppliers who actually list the contents and value of the shipments to you, send me an email to sales, or PM me. I would be more than happy to help!
This is a problem that only hurts our chances of making this industry a legal and above board operation.

Sincerely,
Patrick

Seems right to me - even though Im UK based. Shipping is a very large factor in any import.

And for myself its Landed price = ((FoB + Shipping+insurance)x(1+Import duty))x(1+VAT)

And as Venuvious has stated , you have to account for every item and penny you make for your business tax returns . And if the books dont balance .... well ... nuff said.

Good luck in your business venture

My shipping cost has been running 18% of the cost of the goods. I've gotten lucky on customs charges a few times (even though my supplier puts the real invoice in with it) so I guess they don't check every shipment.

isn't that the truth!!!!!!!
