Hey all..

So I've made it past my first month vaping exclusively. Day 1 stopped and since I was out of RYO tobacco and shells I just decided to push through those first few days and vape even 1-2 days with a full nic patch on to really help.

I've found myself, and not knowing why, really craving analogs today. It's like I've lost a friend and for some odd reason, as if to confirm my more healthy choice, I wanted to fire one up today. Luckily with no tobacco in the place and the strength of my wife I pushed through but it got me thinking.

Does anyone else find that after some time, even seemingly randomly such as mine, you get a full on urge? I'm not sure if it was successfully making it 30+ days that spurred it or something else but I'm wondering if anyone has those urges on a regular basis? Again, not a daily urge like when you first stopped analogs all together but just out of the blue, like "I'm not sure why but right now one would be awesome.." kinda urge..

Sorry, it sounds weird I'm sure but I'm totally sure others have felt this and just trying to figure out the patterns here (a bit OCD on these types of things, gotta try to know/understand) :)

Almost 2 years out I still get them occasionally, especially after a particularly big meal or when slightly intoxicated. Technically I don't really want a cigarette, since I doubt I'd take more than a drag if one was available, but it's definitely an urge that I have to pull myself together and vape it away. I have stronger nic juice and some WTA if just regular vaping doesn't do the trick.

Vaping is so far superior to smoking in every way, no way I would go back to cigarettes. They taste dull, dry and really awful when you try them after vaping for a while.

Keep up the good work, 30 days cigarette free is a biggie.

I occasionally get a weird mental urge to have a smoke, but it usually passes in an hour or two.

Yep, exactly what this was.. I really wanted one but filled up my Nova with a tried and tested juice (Volt 555) and tooted away for awhile. The time with the wife trying to explain and wondering why our of the blue it hit me gave me enough time to get past it. I really don't think even if I had any in the house I would have fired one up but.. The more I thought about why I wouldn't the more I thought why not, lol.

My wife received her second degree in Social Services concentrating on addiction and has worked with many types, addicted to many things and it's one of those questions that always gets me. To her she understands it's a constant struggle and just like alcohol there's never a point where you can say 'I'm totally done' because it just doesn't happen. I'll always be an ex-smoker and will have to live with these occasionally to continue being one. I just wish there was that 'Bingo' button to where you can proclaim yourself free from analogs without the possibility of ever going back. Even until his death, my wife's grandfather (who had quit some 20 years prior, cold turkey) constantly told her he had trouble around me sometimes smoking because it brought back so many memories and he could almost taste it again. He admitted to me several times that he always felt, at any moment, he could fire back up and be OK with it but never did.

Anyways, getting long..

Thanks!

I would actually say go ahead, you will be back to vaping in a hurry! I had a cig after about 2 months of vaping, i just really wanted one and apparently my mind completely forgot how bad they smell and taste... Needless to say I had a couple of beers to wash away the flavor and was back to bobas bounty afterwards.

I will say I forced myself to smoke the whole thing, now no more desire after a year since.

I remember having an urge for a cig hit me out of the blue at about my 6 week mark. Totally caught me by surprise. Had no clue where it came from, but I was able to vape my way through it without having a cig. Through my first year of vaping I did have 2 or 3 more times after that 6 week point that out of the blue I felt like I really wanted a cig but the urge was never as strong as that one at about 6 weeks.

There were a couple of times in the first half of my second year that I missed not having a cig. Those times felt like I was missing an old friend. :( I was never in danger of actually having a cig during those thoughts just kind of sad that an old friend really was gone forever.

Being past my two year mark at this point smoking is really becoming a very distant memory for me. Sometimes its hard to believe I smoked for so many years before giving it all up for vaping :)

I haven't had a cig in over a year. The cravings come and go, usually during times of stress. The worst one I had is when my mom passed away a few weeks ago. My wife vapes 24mg (I vape 8mg) and I was taking a few puffs on her PV here and there to get me though the first few days after. That got me through instead of having a cig.

My dad, who hasn't smoked since 1985, says he still gets cravings every few months or so. He told me he wishes e-cigs were around back then and it would have taken the edge off.

I used to get the urge and smoke 1 every month or so.... last time was sometime in July. I puffed, I cringed, I puffed, I hacked, I puffed, I got a headache right in the center of my forehead, I told myself it would pass, puffed 1 more time, got nauseous and put it out. I walked back into the house, my mouth watered, my head spun, my stomach felt like crap, and I puked. I haven't had a "wonder what a cigarette would be like" moment make it past that very graphic memory since.

I am close to 4 months now and I still fire one up 3 - 5 times a week. Funny thing. The first month I did not touch one, then about a month or so into vaping I started getting these strong urges. After I smoke one, the urge goes away for a couple of days. I have no desire to go back to smoking cigs and when I do give in, it doesn't really taste very good. I think, after almost 40+ yrs of 1 1/2 pad, it may be that part of me that doesn't want to let go of that "old friend". I also just like to feel of it in my hand. Sometimes I actually play with it more than I smoke it.

I haven't had even a drag off a cigarette in about 15 months. I suspect I don't really even remember what they taste like. To this day I still have a craving once in a while, but it has become very rare, and it passes in just a few seconds now. That said, I feel very strongly that there is no shame if someone just has to have an analog every once in a while. Think of all the cigarettes you DIDN'T smoke, not the few you did.

I have smoking urges anytime I am stressed/angry/upset. I find that I can't angrily vape the way I can angrily smoke :D my PV is too pretty and leisurely! I had a rough day yesterday and when I really wanted a cigarette I just sat there and stewed until I felt better. It seems it wasn't the nicotine I needed, but the aggressive, removing-myself-from-the-situation smoking ritual I was after. Our brains are so strange sometimes.

I've been smoke free for 19 months now, and since in the beginning, once I found the setup I liked, I have'nt had a problem with getting an urge for a cig. I'll think about it, but it's not an urge. I guess after 55 years of smoking, I can still remember what it taste like compared to vaping. Yeecch!

After a year and a half, I don't get urges anymore. I did smoke a really nice cigar on our honeymoon back in June. I didn't do it because of withdrawals. I did it just because. I don't regret it. I may actually have one now and then, but rarely. I'm officially cigarette-free tho. Before my buddy converted, I had been vaping for a few months and asked him for a smoke. I lit it and promptly handed it back for him to finish. YUCK!
