So I purchased a few popular ego style starte kits for $12.99 from a B&M in Maryland. And I might be paranoid (please tell me if I am!) but I'm afraid to keep charging them with their included chargers. I've seen subreddits were their chargers have caused venting, meltdowns, etc. I'd really like to play it safe and have a good charger that is protected.

Where can I get a Over Charge Protected Ego Charger or OEM Joytech Charger? The original charger is a 5v input with 4.2v 420mA output so a normal ego charger should work, but I'd really like the charger to be protected because only god (and the chinese manufacture) knows if the battery has any built in overcharge protection.

Also, to add one last note. They are 650mAh ego style batteries and take about 3 hours to charge on their current charger. Is that a normal charging time for a 420mA charger?

I've seen a Chinese knockoff Ego battery and charger literally blow up like a display of fireworks. Scared the piss out of me. Could have been a fluke. On my Joyetech twist on Joye charger, I'll go to sleep no problem. I even rigged up a charger so the Joye charger would charge my 18350/650 batteries. Those I do keep an eye on, though. I don't recommend it, but I haven't any problems yet. I hear everyone raving about how careful you need to be with these batteries, but I've rarely actually heard any horror stories that didn't involve op-error. Just my .02
