I am currently over seas in afganistan and the ego batteries that i have are not holding up. i brought 4 with me and i have had two die in the first week. Anyone out there know of a good mod or battery for 510/306 that can hold up out here?

P.S. Also need to find vendors that do apo ae shipping.

Welcome to the Forums.
I just ordered a Riva510 battery from liberty flights today. A lot of people pointed me in that direction and they will ship to APO. A lot of vendors do actually, and some give a military shipping discount of free.95. I am in Iraq so, I am curious as to how my gear is going to last out here as well.

Did you buy Joye Ego or a clone? For anything called Ego I recommend Joye or Janty only for the best chance at good quality.

There is an Armed Services section of ECF - once you have 5 non-spammed posts or replies in New Members and an hour's wait then you can post there.

Are you charging them properly? Each one you charges has a full USB port's worth of source power or the AC to USB meant for the Ego (or a standard 5v 500ma USB to AC)? I.e you can't use an unpowered USB hub to charge more than one battery.

Are you using any extreme LR on them? Some will only use extreme LR in the 1's on mods.

If you don't have Joye, you could try Joye brand Ego batteries or try a mod. A mod uses plain industrial type batteries like 14500 and other types with an external battery charger. The batteries come out the way a flashlight's batteries come out. I recommend a 3.7v mod which will work with all of your Ego atomizers and cartomizers.

One popular mod is E-Power - that uses larger batteries.

Well i have two smoke tech and two joye and the two joye have died and all i have is the smoke tech ones they seam to be holding up. i use the 420 mah chargers from the wall since my computer is still in my tuffbox. I use joye 1.5 306/510 from vapor kings and i have never had an issue with them shorting or anything nor any of the batteries. i have been doing my best to keep on the high end of cleaning so i cant see it being dust buildup.

I think the big issue is just wear and tear i have black batteries and they are scuffed and dinged more in a week then in the last 6 months i have had them.

Thanks for and advice i have looked into the rough stack and i looks like it might do the trick. but with internet cost and all that it will just take a while to order the kits. i guess i just have to hope my last two batteries last out until i can save up and order a better mod. does anyone know how the apex alpha will doing in a fine sand enviroment?

I think no matter what mod you get sand will be a problem(but workable), going to have to be careful to clean up the threads for both where the atty attaches and where the body closes.
Get some rubbing alcohol, and some noalox(anti-oxidant Lube) to clean and keep them smooth working

Also when looking at mods, want to keep an eye on the type of switch it has.
Some are more durable then others and stay away from sliding switches, which unfortunately the alpha has. Very likely to get stuck with bits of sand.
