I accidently put 2 3v Haoba LiFePo4 batts on the 4.2v setting instead of the 3.6v setting on my HG -1210W charger and checked them on my meter and they both read 4.2v let them sit overnite and they now read 3.6v are they safe to still use?

Will the charger have any ill effects from doing this? Why I'm asking does anyone know the rating of the Haoba 3v LiFePo4 batts asked everywhere with no response.

Thanks for any info, Dale

Good morning dale1962,

Your charger won't miss a beat, but your batteries on the otherhand, i'd probably replace. Though they may still work fine, you'd hate to take a risk being they were overcharged like they were. On their rating, i'm not familiar with that brand of batteries specs.

Thanks David for the reply I will just dispose of them...the batts madvapes sales and I believe Carolina Vapes and several people have asked MV about the rating of them and they said they would ask the manufacturer about it and have not gotten back to us yet. They work well but with all the press about the exploding batt just would like to know for peace of mind.

Dale,

It seems like you know what the answer is, so just do it. My recommendation is to have 2 seperate chargers: one for 3.7V batts and one for 3.0V batts and only charge the apprpriate batteries on their respectiive chargers.

Your right Switched but last time they were some no name brand batts this time AW's.....I know should still toss them but did'nt know for sure if would make difference with the AW's(well probably did but was hoping).Better safe than sorry...but I'm such a tightwad had to ask.

And on having separate chargers I have 5 of them 3 that charge 3.7v and 2 that charge 3v or 3.7v,for now on only 3v batts on the multi channel chargers:)

Li-ion cannot absorb overcharge, and when fully charged the charge current must be cut off. A continuous trickle charge would cause plating of metallic lithium, and this could compromise safety.

Source Battery University: Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

Stosh, I "think" I was asking that same question today in a post I made. Maybe you can explain. The Pila charger says it has 4 stages, the last stage is trickle charging. I was hoping it would terminate. I am not so much into charging a batt past the point where it is fully charged, even with trickle.

Yet, this seems to be the most recommended charger, or am I getting something wrong?
