Needed for the mech, no, needed for your peace of mind, only you can answer. If you answered yes, then yes, it is needed and not overkill.

I personally put fresh batteries in my mechs at night and make sure that the switch is locked and the tanks full, that way all I have to do in the morning is grab a vape or 2 or 3 and walk out the door.

Nope, I've got far more important things to worry about than if my mech mod is going to have some strange, almost impossible failure that causes it to fire all by itself in the middle of the night. That would require a failure of the locking ring, which would require the threading for the locking ring to suddenly disappear, or for the locking ring itself to suddenly disappear.

Personally, I think a zombie apocalypse is more likely to happen.

Do you guys also remove the battery from your car every night? If not, don't you find it odd that you worry about a tiny little battery in a mech mod while you are totally unconcerned about a highly explosive and unprotected battery, filled with extremely poisonous acids and weighs over 50lbs that sits in your much more valuable car?
