Oxidizing using a stove?

My second, (and most recent) wick....I'm a noob....was done without either. Following a post on reddit, I just rolled the wick, heated it with a bic lighter, dripped some juice on it, lit the juice on fire. Waited for it to go out, repeated the dripping/firing twice more, and it was done. Had fewer issues with it than I did with my heavily propane torched wick.

i have gotten to the point where i dont even go that far anymore, i roll it and torch the end where the coil goes, wrap the coil and drip a little juice on it to kill the short while adjusting the hot spot, once ready the the juice it wicks up will keep it from shorting until it gets a little buildup on it. always hated having to work through the oxidation and burnt juice taste to break it in.
