P18 hairline trigger~spring specs

I got a used P18 in the mail today. The body is flawless, along with the vape!

One thing that bothers me though. I set it down (on end) on my night stand & it was firing. I was like "WTF is that?", sure enough the P18 was firing. It's almost like my switch/bottom button is like a hairline trigger. I hardly have to touch it at all & it fires. My husband stretched out the spring for me, but it wasn't like it was "compressed" to begin with. The PV continues to have a hairline fire.

1. Is this normal?
2. Will a new HD spring fix this?
3. What are the specs on the HD spring if I wanted to pick one up locally.
4. If this is not normal, & a new HD spring won't fix this..........what will?

In the meatime i'm gonna use the cut off 6ml bottle to protect the fire switch.

Which batteries are you using in it, and how many brass washers are under the contact on the top of the button. Mine did the same thing when it was brand new direct from David. I removed the washer that was installed on it and it fixed the problem right away.

A question or two first:

-What brand/size battery are you using in your Precise? I only recommend the AW P18650 2600mah or the AW IMR 18650

-Does the battery fit properly, meaning, when you screw down the top, do you start to feel resistance the last 1/2 turn or so of the top cap? There is supposed to be an Oring pre-installed in the bottom of the battery chamber. When you tighten the cap down, it will compress the Oring slightly, you'll feel this resistance as it compresses the Oring the last 1/2 turn or so of the cap as you tighten it down. If the battery rattles even after the cap is tightened down, or if you can't tighten the cap down without excessive force, the Orings need to be replaced. The unit comes with a spare parts kit with different size Orings.

If the battery fits good as descibed above, then the throw on the Precise switch may be the culprit as it is adjustable and it sounds like someone may have set it up to fire when the breeze blows. As Red Alert mentioned, remove the switch and under the slotted brass contact you will find washers, Remove one of these Washer(s).

The HD spring will also make it harder to depress, but first make sure the throw is set up correct.

I picked up BMW's P10 so she could get her new used P18 and I'm having the same bit of trouble with the hair trigger. I'm using the IMR 10440 350mah batteries from Super T but there is no o-ring or washers to adjust the button throw. I am coming up with a list of all the bits and pieces I need from the hardware store so if anyone could help me out with the right sized o-rings and washers it sure would save me a lot of time going through all those little drawers and guesstimating the right size of o-rings, and also I'd like to get a stiffer spring or at least a spare. Your suggestions and help will be most appreciated.

On the P10, the switch is not adjustable. There is only one spring available on the P10, yours may be getting soft. I do sell spares.

Is you P10 the new version P10 or the older version P10 with the upgraded IMR 10440 switch? (i'd need to know they date the original purchaser purchased it, or you could post a pic of the switch as i can tell from that).

Since I'm new to the Precise world I don't honestly know if it is the older or newer model. It's clocked some hours and pumped through quite a few ml's, I know that much. The battery is top install, the button is flat headed (but the slotted button my only be on the P16 and P18?). I stretched out the spring a touch and all's groovy with the P10 now. I just wanted to know about the proper way to get her back in the tip top. I'll try and post a few snaps later today if I get the chance.

LadyMaMa thanks for letting me know that it wouldn't be a bother for SonnyBoy (forcedfuel50) to get my baby all fixed up but I got it working like new yesterday and unless there's a dramatic event she isn't leaving my pocket, ever.

By the way I received my P16 today and am completely confident that it shall work perfectly for years to come. The new finish was a very pleasant surprise and will make it extremely hard for me to decide just which pocket to stick my hand in to grab for either the P10 or the P16.

Wingapo- I purchased a P16 from the classifieds and had it sent directly to David for a once over. I have no clue what the unit looked like when I purchased it, but it looked and functioned like brand new when I got it from David and it still does. Amazing customer service for the Precise line of pv's.

HzG8rGrl, I know Super T is great they get all my goodies out lickity split but now that I've finally got my hands on my P10 and P16 they aren't leaving my sight. I just tagged onto Beemer Jen's post as I wanted to know the proper bits and pieces as well as the proper way to fix my little P10 up right before I went and did a country boy tuneup. All's good at my house today. The P10's pumping clouds without worry and the new P16 is absolute perfection personified.

yeah, sorry for the long time no update.......
the aw-imrs (red ones) make it weird to push the bottom button. Like I have to push it a few times to get it to actually push in. I did not have my husband remove a washer like I had originally planned.

I'm actually more comfortable using the p18 with a trustfire 18650, it may be a hairline trigger, but it fires everytime without having to make sure i've got the button pressed exactly right.

P18 has to be set up one way to use the red IMR's and a different way for the AW 2600's. I bought the heavy duty spring and it is much better. However, I never set in on end anymore. David - rebuffed it for me this spring as I had a scratch on it. (I don't do scratches, have to have shiny) Anyway he did the button too, so now I lay it down only on the pouch. For anyone who wants to know, if you send back a Precise to be re-buffed and checked over - David does it right away, so no worries that it would be gone for weeks. ++++++++++++100 for David. It will again look like the day it was brand new.
