I have two plastic baggies behind my laptop, where I keep good atomizers and carts, and dead atomizers and carts. I never thought about not leaving a cart plugged into an atomizer. That's just the way I store things.

Anyhow, I opened the "good" baggie yesterday and pulled out a never-used atomizer and cart, just as it had arrived from the seller.

The black paint on the atomizer slid off under finger pressure and all of the paint came off when I inserted the atomizer into the tight-fitting hole in the JantyStick.

The baggie was extremely moist, from evaporation of e-liquid in the carts. That atmosphere, in a few weeks' time, had created an environment that could strip paint off metal! Whoa! We are sucking vapor into our lungs that acts as a paint stripper?

I know how supposedly benign the ingredients in e-liquid and carts are, but ...? What will daily exposure of lung tissue to paint-stripping vapor do? Anyone else had liquid strip paint off your e-cig or atomizer unit?

TBob, I had noticed some of the paint gone from the atomizer I've been using the past several months in my NicoStick. I do recall that I thought it might have been from some excess fluid or evaporation of the fluid that has overflown into the box....but silly me....I didn't even connect it to being a paint stripper and possible scary things for my lungs.

I'm not alarmed after all the studies I found and read on PG testing in humans and primates. Just curious as to why it happens. Our liquid is supposedly almost PH neutral, so I didn't believe acidity was at work. But might there be something besides PG in the liquid/vapor that the paint reacts to?

TB, I have only had one battery peel. I could be the paint they are using is bad too.

Yes Tropical Bob,

it has hapened to me. I carry a small tin (Altoids size) which I keep a couple of spare atomizers and carts. As I do a fair bit of flavour swapping I just leave the carts attached. I have had atomizers loose paint but not batteries (I no longer keep batteries in the tin as I now use a ScewDriver). I don't know whether the heating and cooling of the atomizer has a detrimental effect on the paint.

I to rinse my atomizers - have boiled them in the past - so again this could have an impact.

I have also had the orangy colour leech from M401 carts onto the opaque rubber stopper.

Kula.
