Series, but it does not matter in a regulated mod anyway. It only makes a difference for the chip how/what voltage to "manipulate".

Most regulated multi cell mods are series since bucking down the voltage is more efficient.

In case you are asking because of the Amps draw, it does not matter either ;). Yes you only have the Amps of a single cell in series but you also have double the voltage means you have the same amp draw as on a parallel at the same wattage.

Watt / input volt (battery volts) = Amps.

You won't be able to safely use the full 220 watts with any two batteries on the market.
Calculate the minimum and maximum amp usage based on the battery charge, and make sure the two married batteries you choose are capable of these values. You can exceed these wattages but you will prematurely age the batteries and possibly have an accident. Married batteries are two or more cells that are bought together, used and charged together.

2 x 20 amp CDR = 120 watts max
2 x 30 amp CDR = 180 watts max

You can model these values using steam-engine based on a maximum battery charge of 4.2 volts and a minimum where the mod will usually cutoff around 3.2/4 volts. Make sure you are looking at the 'battery' box on the right, not the 'atomizer' box on the left.
