I just bought a new tobh atomizer (i think its a clone) and i noticed it had copper contacts. I'm kind of paranoid seeing as copper gives off damaging fumes when heated, but i'm not too sure if heat from a battery source is safe.

Anyways, is there in anyway this has the potential to be harmful? A detailed answer would be appreciated. Thank you

Your contacts never come in contact with your juice. So those shouldn't be too much of a concern. Now if your chamber was copper, etc.. then that might come into play. As an aside, your contact shouldn't be reaching high temps... assuming you don't have a short somewhere... so again, probably not too much to worry about.

Edit: i'm definitely not an expert or anything... so take my OPINION with a grain of salt. But i pretty much stay away from everything except SS in the atty chamber for fear of chemical reactions. But for contacts... i feel safe using copper.

Um... don't vape copper. That's what the e-liquid is for

The amount of direct heat and inhalation needed to generate any concerns for the possibility of copper toxicity to enter the body is likely not going to happen via vaping.

However, if you were to boil your e-juice in or on some copper with a torch then you may have need for concern about the copper poisoning you. In other words I'm confident that copper mods are entirely safe in regards to copper toxicity. You will never be inhaling copper at high temps with a mod. Then again I don't claim vaping to be completely safe.

Damn it, now I'm paranoid too

If copper was toxic during heating, there be a lot of dead plumbers. And as long as you are not sanding copper and licking up the shavings... it's safe. Even then it's going to take a lot, just like ingesting gold it would be a heavy metal poisoning. (Yes, there has been case where people used gold to kill their spouse).

Here's another fun fact about copper... it naturally a antibacterial. Bacteria can't live on it. If copper was a harder metal and resisted tarnish it would be the perfect metal to make atomizers out of, but it can be eaten away by acidic juices unlike SS. And trying to screw into it, well it's not a chance of striping, it's a matter of when would it strip.

Would not want it inside my atty's because it is reactive but don't know about toxic. My choice. SS and glass for me. Unless it's crappy copper and has zink in it can't see it being dangerous. That is bad. Copper contacts are not a problem. You are around them all day. Your not vaping from the battery container.
