He might have been known in his era, but he's relatively unknown today.

Talk about type casting. He didn't just play a particular "sort" of role. He played almost exclusively the SAME role in countless movies and TV shows.

He appeared in a movie called "His First Command."

The first command is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

In keeping with that clue, he was also Cecil B. Demill's first choice to play Moses in "The Ten Commandments" but turned it down because he was so well known as Hopalong Cassidey and didn't want to take away from the role.

His name is William Boyd.
