Hi i'm working on building a variable voltage mod with the chip used in the evercool mod.

The last 2 parts i'm having trouble with are the capacitors and the potentiometer.

I don't know what pot he used but i can't seem to find anything like that. and does anyone know a good place to find 100uf 10v caps that i don't have to buy $20 worth to get em. Also i don't know much about caps but he used a ceramic multilayer 100uf 10v cap, madvapes sells 10uf 10v, does anyone know if that is acceptable?

Edit: I have found a place for pots, still wondering if a 10uf 10v cap is acceptable as i can wire things up but i'm bad with the actual technical aspects.

Also i've been doing some searching and i can't seem to get just a simple explanation on mosfet used in this application (box mods). I just wondered simply what do they do (i saw they can be used as switch but still don't understand) and why they would be used in an e-cig boxmod

Last Edit: Ok it looks like everything is square now. Only one more question. As far as the cap is concerned, i don't understand the uF stuff so i'm wondering can i go up higher than 100 without a problem? like a 1000uF 10v? or 1000uF 16v, or even a 100uF 35v. The only reason i specifically ask about those is because that's what my local radioshack has that the lady on the phone told me about.

Thank you all for explaining things to me. I can definitely understand things once i'm told. I jsut need to be told like i'm a 3 yr old XD

10uf is not recommended by TI for that regulator. You can get 100uf at mouser or digikey . You need to make sure your trimmer your getting is 200 ohms they makes those 3296 trimmers in quite a few different values.

Mosfets are used in these mods so you can use a small tactile switch that cant handle the big amps these mods produce. Basicly most tactile switches are rated around 500ma or lower. A 2.7 ohm atomizer @ 5 volts will draw around 2 amps. 2amps going threw a switch thats rated for 500ma is not going to last that long.
