Passthroughs are a subject not often talked about in the vaping community but I think they are much underrated. There are two basic types of passthroughs, those with batteries and those without. A sub-type would be the Saber Touch that can be used as a passthrough or used with a battery but not both at the same time.
The one I think most folks are familiar with is the eGo style. This type plugs into a usb port and the bottom of the PV and charges while using it. When you leave the computer you unplug it and take a fully charged eGo with you.

Next is the non battery passthrough, these have to be plugged into an active power source to function. I use them at home while sitting at the computer or while watching TV. They have the advantage of providing consistent power without dropping in voltage like a battery does. Just a nice even vape as long as you keep juice flowing to it. They do require sufficient amps, 2.1 is about the minimum. I use this one a good bit on longer road trips, my Jeep has an dc inverter in the center console so I just use a wall plug power source.

As I said the Saber Touch is a bit different. With a battery adapter you can use the Saber as a Passthrough or you can take the battery out and use it as a regular PV.

And the biggest difference with the Saber is the available variable voltage power supply. With 11 volts on tap I am sure you can fry any atomizer...lol...

I use passthroughs at home a good bit, the Saber at my computer and this in front of the TV...

I really like passthroughs, once you get use to the cord they are both convenient and they save your batteries for walking around. In the car they really solve the frustration of running out of battery power when zipping down the highway.
