Passthroughs

Hi there,

I am looking into getting a USB passthrough for use with a wall mount, and to plug in to the USB adapter in my car. I've looked at a few vendors but none of them seem to mention how long the cord is. I was hoping for something along the lines of 10+ feet without relying on stretching a coiled cord. Does anyone know of a product like this? Or can tell me how far standard 808 passthrough reach?

Not sure about the 808's but I thought with the Joye passthrough's you could just add a USB extension cable if you need to. You want to make sure it's a suitable USB power cable, not a lighter weight data type cable. And that it has the appropriate USB connector on each end too.

either that or a bloog will be my next passthrough, the one i have currently is from electronicstix.com and it works surprisingly well, but as soon as it dies i'll be going with the v2 i believe. the one from estix is only 12 bucks so for my first passthrough it was a good purchase.

Only thing is the longer the cord the less voltage you will get so 10 foot is a little far IMO

Did not know this. The reason I wanted it kind of long was because I want to use it at work, but do not want to risk using the USB port on my iMac there and frying it. I'll look into the voltage that the iMac uses maybe it isn't even necessary to worry about it..

So today I received a passthrough that I ordered. I've read around here that people recommend that the power source has an output of 2 amps for these. I have a variety of USB wall mount power adapters but none of them are 2 amps. I have one that is 1 amp output (originally for my iPhone). I do not know a lot about electricity, will the passthrough have an adverse effect on the wall mount? Or would I just get better pulls from a 2 amp?

Yes it will, get more power to that PV and you will see a big diffrence but using what you have for now will be cool
