Unless something's changed, none of my regulated batteries allowed passthrough operation until there was a minimum charge - the chip wouldn't allow it. If that's still true, then the issue is ultimately with the use of "passthrough", since it's really just a vape-and-charge feature.

yes but I keep hearing the term passthru used in the reviews like for the Coolfire 4 and such. It has passthru not a problem if your battery is dead you can just vape and charge.
And even with a minimum charge your vaping at any appreciable wattage would quickly deplete the battery again 5 watts input will just not keep up with 30 watts output or more.

From my understanding that's correct. It will charge up until the moment you're actually pushing the button, then it starts charging again when you stop. Its probably the industry just chooses to use the term pass through instead of vape And charge because it sounds better.

For me it works - when vaping at 10 W. But I never vape when charging through wall plug, only if it plugged in a computer (somehow I believe it is safer).

Same for me on the iStick 50. However the Innokin pvs, at least the ones I have (iTaste 20 and the sticklike vv) don't allow you to vape immediately if the battery is too low. They need time to slightly recharge before you can use the passthrough.

Granted, I know about Li-ion batteries very little, but I am still sure your statement is wrong. Just take a look at plugged-in laptops.
Perfect example, after several months the batteries have issues holding a full charge or running as long as they should.

It has been known for a very long time always keeping a laptop running on ac with the battery pack in kills them, and it is recommended to fully cycle them once in a while to refresh them.

Edit: wrong link

No. It is different cause. Not pass through charging but keeping battery always fully charged. It is really bad for batteries to keep them fully charged for prolonged times. But that is not the case for a mod, which is in use mostly when unplugged.
Just a reminder: do not store batteries that are fully charged.

Sorry, there's been too many posts about mods used in pass through mode dying.

I did state its OK once in a while but if you do it all the time the constant trickle charge kills them.

You didnt state anything about removing the mod after full charge. Only using it as a passthrough

If you read the article 95% plus trickle charging is causing the problems not being stored full. Even plugged in a laptop uses the battery which causes the charger to continuously run.

" The higher the charge percentage, the higher the voltage level. The more voltage a cell has to store, the more stress it’s put under. That stress leads to fewer discharge cycles."

"Buchmann would know. His company Cadex sponsers Battery University. The site is the go-to destination for anyone interested in battery technology. And it’s not just constant power that shortens your battery’s life. While batteries degrade naturally, heat also accelerates the degradation"

Please, argue with battery university if you think the information is wrong
